Fun Rank Equality

Tbh wouldn't want randoms with extra ranks that others don't have. Some people would think because someone has a special rank they can be trusted.

 

To be honest staff are rewarded here for the work they do, they can get paid to advertise, get access to paid guides and all other sorts of freebies/perks that come with the role. Fun ranks should in no way be limited to staff only and aren't completely. However as KMJT said, trust could become an issue as new members or even old may see them as trustworthy because of a fun rank.

 

It's just a badge next to your profile. I mean, does it really matter that much.

It's up to the high rankers/site owners to give them since they own the site. Hence, no point of removing it or make it available to everyone.

 

I only support that they shouldnt been given out so easily.

 

And how, exactly, do you propose that we dish out these ranks without showing any favouritism or unfairness? Only Sythe, Matthew and (I think) Govind can give out the ranks right now anyway, but I certainly wouldn't want to be thought any less of because of who I hand out ranks to. Don't propose giving them out as awards for community competitions, as we already have a rank for that.

 

1. A very few number of regular users are getting the newer fun ranks.
2. The point of the older fun ranks is to serve as a reward for dealing with the most spam/scam reports (or something like that).

 

If some members got fun ranks then everyone would start asking for them. I don't even have a fun rank, nor am I interested in one.

 

I think allowing regular community members to obtain fun ranks would be cool, but unrealistic. It is not exactly fair that they are exclusive to staff, but I think they are better suited there as they currently don't pose a very big problem.

Once fun ranks are opened to the community, I think it would be extremely hard to judge who gets a fun rank and why, and it could create alot of animosity and resentment between members, as well as favouritism of certain members (or atleast a *percieved* favouritism by other users).

 

No support, I was mod for 5 months before I even got one, They are given out lately more cus of the contest for them and such. Maybe we could give one member a month who we think deserves it. I earned mine for having amazing scores as a mod.

There really isn't any accurate way to give out ranks to the members. I think they should be reserved for staff, but Admins should be allowed to give them to user(s) if they'd like to (being able to do so without being bitched at.)

Ex: BMTH had Crackerhead which was given to him by Pen.

If you get a rank, sweet, if you don't stop complaining and get mod, fill the quota, and then ask for the one you'd like.

Also, the reason "normal" users have rank(s) such as Legendary is due to the fact that they made the ranks.

 

How about the overall member of the month gets the rank? Or every 3 or 6 months?

You only get the Contest Winner rank if you win a contest, except for the latest 'Design a Fun Rank' contest. I think a contest winner should get to choose which fun rank, except highly trusted and ranks that are of similar meaning.

 

I think everyone is over thinking this wayyyy to much. These are fun ranks, not trust ranks, or favoritism ranks, or any kind of rank besides fun. Everyone is taking them so seriously, which is why people are worried about their "abuse" in the first place.

Maybe someone hits 10k posts, and they are a nice, active user, what's wrong with them being given a simple fun rank? Or when someone wins a contest, instead of just the bland "competition winner" rank, they could choose from among the fun ranks like it used to be.

The only reason a fun rank is associated with trust or a high social status is because your making it out to be that way.

Basically its ranked members verses non ranked members. Ranked members want the ranks to remain exclusive and non-ranks want them to be more common. I'd like to think the staff would remain unbiased in this, however, this is impossible as most of them have ranks. I think we should come to a middle ground and actually have fun ranks be fun, where any member can obtain it.

(before anyone accuses me of being bias, I've had OMM, price yobabo, and 50 dollar donator rank. I'm hardly a rank whore )

 

They don't want a load of fun ranks being all over the forum. Once one person gets one, another wants one, one become two, two becomes four, and so forth.

That's up to admins whether they believe a "normal" user can get a fun rank.
As well, if it's a competition they should get the "competition winner" rank, that's the reason it was made.

They've always been for mods. The fun ranks prior to the recent competition had been there since the begining of the site and very few non-moderators have held the ranks.
IMO I'm one of the more-trusted people on this site, and I use to be fairly well-known. Do you see me with a fun rank?


I'm not against non-staff having ranks, I just see staff's point when they ask "How would they be given out?"

Who said the ranks are going to be given out willy-nilly? The major issue seems to be how they are going to be handed out. I mean, I don't think it's hard to think of some ideas. I thought of how upper staff make threads for promoting members, so how about a staff member makes a thread regarding a user who he/she thinks should get the rank, and the staff can vote whether or not the user should get the rank. Like x339 said, these are FUN ranks, and you guys are over-thinking the entire thing.

 

I've also brought something similar to this up in the staff lounge not too long ago, but the idea was basically put on hold for now. I would like to see some members given the chance to earn the rank, but as of right now we need a collaborative input on some effective ways that users can EARN them.

Fun ranks are just that, "Fun" - however, I feel that they should still be earned one way or another. So rather than complaining about how mostly just the staff hold these ranks, how about you do something more productive with your time and your posts and come up with ideas as to how they can be earned.

After reading through the posts, a majority of you are just complaining about the fact that more people don't have them. Quit complaining and start coming up with some ideas as to how people can EARN them.
