Full response to the "Secrets about Sythe" eBook

This eBook is currently being spammed around Sythe.org by a ban evader. In order to clear up confusion it might be causing, I will share it in its entirety here:

First part:

Nothing substantial to address here. Interviewee is Finn.

In addition, the pardon system was implemented after Sythe came to a conclusion about the suggestion offered here, long before this incident with the members of Spyike's site took place.

Another thing, this incident was in fact caused by deletion of accounts that were in any way associated with Spyike's site after one of that site's members offended Finn over a personal matter, completely unrelated to Sythe.org, involving his Facebook.



(Tmoe's original account was then deleted).

Naturally, this decision was not approved by Sythe, and as soon as Sythe found out, he added the Special Dispute system for victims of these groundless actions.

Further, the ability for administrators to delete user accounts was removed from the code of our Admin Control Panel as a consequence of this shameless abuse of power.

Again, this is addressed in the same point made above.

I'll admit, because I did not want to hurt their feelings, I did tell Finn that the restitution idea was Sythe's, and I implemented it for him. Like I said earlier, now that he has chosen to end our friendship, I will not be tact anymore. The fact is that I came up with this idea myself. Proof:



Anyone who was around for the "undesirable" banning spree knows that the majority of them were completely uncalled for.

This allegation has no evidence whatsoever. The burden of proof rests on the one making the claim; none is given here.

High donators have been banned for rule-breaking as readily as ordinary users. Examples include Plznate, Spyike, and Fatih - I cannot think of any case where a user avoided being banned because of their donor status.

Sythe addressed the accusation about this in his thread, too:

As far as Ughster, he was promoted with R2Pleasent by Steph and Clashfan back when they were Head Moderators. Head Moderators were allowed to promote whomever they wanted without a poll, and this position was created and endorsed by Sythe.

The only staff member who was known to recruit allies to take down administrators whom he disliked, or were a threat to his power, was Finn, and he is no longer on staff. I will say this about the case of Pen's demotion, though; he did give out ranks in exchange for personal donations/gifts - that's part of the reason he was demoted, too.

Also, there was in fact airtight proof that Shredderbeam was helping Sigex - Shredderbeam even acknowledges this in his pardon request: http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1035050

Given that it had been admitted to a person who was about to be demoted that Gohan redeemed himself in this case, chances are this was not a secret back in the day, and whoever gave this interview is just taking advantage of the fact that many members weren't around for this and are going to buy the claim.

Steph, Clashfan and I had proof in the form of server logs that Atomic owned and operated phishing sites and emails. This was why he was banned originally.

I don't know much about why Daily was banned, as I wasn't around for it.

Pen was actually demoted partly because he gave out ranks to his friends/personal donators.

I have never heard anything about this before. However, Sythe.org has never had any trouble with Blupig being a scammer/hacker/blackhat, so I would assume this claim is either being grossly exaggerated, or is false altogether.

The Blondi experiment was conceived and operated by Finn with some help from me at his request.

Another completely made up claim. I once told an ex-staff member who was off staff at the time what one of my own votes on a promotion poll was. This hardly constitutes leaking, though, as no one's confidentiality was violated other than my own. With regard to the comment about FireZ, Sythe himself has commented to me that he's "not sure where that came from".

Again, the ridiculous allegation about the donation system is addressed in Sythe's thread.

All in all, this "eBook" seems to be an attempt at retaliation against Sythe, and/or Sythe.org, for something.

 

Well done, this post coupled with Sythe's and your first one should hopefully stop anymore drama related to this ebook.

As for the section about me and hacking, I suppose I should clarify. I was never part of a hacking "band" but was a part of a few sites that endorsed and supported such activities, so I was exposed to that type of thing but never took it into practice (sites that are now gone, like Temple of Warcraft, AoC Hacks, RS Unlocked, and Macro Soft). I learned a lot of the programming related stuff and some useful psychological counters against social engineers (which have actually worked for me recently) but have never compromised or caused harm to any individual on Sythe or otherwise. I suppose you could say that everything I know and learned would only be used for the purposes of whitehat and grayhat hacking.

 

Thanks for the share. I was semi-curious about what could be so scandalous about an ebook and I'm glad I've read it. Just reading it, it sounds like a load of bull, and your response was good to it.

 

This entire event with Finn just shows his character. He has repeatedly shown that he has no respect for people he considered friends and people whom trusted and respected him.

I'm just glad that the remaining admins are truthful and as far as I know don't try to cheat Sythe's system...

I lol'd. Me and Richard don't get to talk to often, but if he has a problem or concern either he or Govind will tell me man to man and we will deal with it professionally. To think that they would call us stupid means we wouldn't be in our admin positions....think about it.

I'm not sure if this ebook is better here or the comedy central channel.

Covering up for Gohan? The guy was tearing himself apart, and I'm pretty sure anyone who posted in the spam forum at the time knew. I was banned at the time and I knew for God's sake.

To address Ryan's demotion:

If I recall rightly, Ryan was de-admined at the same time as myself a couple of years back.
Ryan and I were extremely close, and when he learned of me being banned for "evasion" (just an honest mistake in the end though ) he was frustrated over the fact that I was removed from the site when there were a few discrepancies. While in an MSN conversation with Ryan about this topic, he was also speaking to Richard at the same time. Ryan challenged Richard's decisions, and 5 minutes later came back to our own conversation simply saying "deadmined". I recall it vividly because I read it as "Dead Mined" and had no idea what he was talking about haha.

At this time Ryan was a temporary Administrator, and this had been outlined numerous times by Richard and Ryan himself. The demotion came lightly because Ryan wasn't a necessity on the staff team any more. Simple.

 

Quite surprised that a simple eBook has caused so much unnecessary attention.
