Forest Shelter?

Hey hey people, on Saturday and Sunday I am going on a survival weekend with my scout group (for those of you who read my other threads about scout leaders, I have new ones now ). If you don't know what I mean by survival weekend, basically, you go off to a forest or what ever, and survive off of the area you are in. You build a shelter and sleep in it, kill and cook animals for food etc.
Basically, I need a decent design of shelter that will accommodate 2 (possibly 3) teenage boys for 2 nights. I was thinking of a kind of sloping topped cube with sloping sides aswell, or maybe a bivouac style shelter, but I'm not sure of the best design. I have googled it, but I want some of your opinions too. Thanks!

Gl with any of the designs, back when I was in scouts we had fuck all to build with when we went on A weekender. Wait no that's right we had dead trees and grass -.-

Why don't you look for a cave like thing and build from there instead of doing it all by your self?

Depends on the type of forest as in what type of trees are there.

Exactly, I can tell you to build a mansion but if you don't have the materials then it's pointless?

Assume he is bringing no materials.

Get a long log type thing and find a tree that has a Y in it. Stick the log in the Y to get a nice slanted thing... Then take sticks and make slanted walls.... Then add leaves and more sticks.... Leave a door near the tree... There you go. May be able to shove 2 people in there.....

I see what you're doing there. If you guys can kill animals try using their fur for bedding or flooring or even for the roof, it can protect you from rain.

Or better kill a bear, strip the insides and use for food and clothing you would look so bad ass and get so many brownie points. Man you go some hardcore trips to be honest when I was in scouts we used tents and had barbecue's. Even my the Duke of duke of Edinburgh award we used tents.

Pfft, you had it cushy for your Duke of Ed, our dumbfuck teacher got us lost in the middle of the bush and it started to snow even though we had no shelter , he managed to get us lost with A gps and A compass.

If you can use things, tie a rope between two trees and hang a tarp over it.
