Forbidding Trading Discord Advertisements

What stops other providers from sending rogue users in to spam trading, take screenshot then upload claiming someone is hosting a trading discord?

This makes sense to why it is in effect, however this will eventually force all discords to lock all channels completely from peer to peer contact no?

At the moment it seems if even 1 person tries to sell or trade and even if you ban that said user it will still leave the host liable ?

So how does one prevent 100% of activity to remain advertising free even with 0 trading channels ?

I'm open ears here and would love to understand how this will work with servers that do not limit "ALL" channels to the host/workers of said server <3

If you do not close all channels completely from contact there will be instances where providers are targeted by competitors trying to falsify the disputes towards providers by acting like trading is going on.

Personally I dont see a problem with closing trading channels, removing trader ranks, so on so forth however it will be impossible to stop randoms / competitors from rogue posting when they so desire no?

There's nothing preventing other users from doing something as such. However, I presume that if any user is caught doing so, they will simply be banned. Similar to how the generic fake/extortion (read: faking proof when a user gets hacked, in the hopes of receiving a pay-day) reports are dealt with.

I asked @video within the suggestion thread that lead to this rule, to plainly state what defines a trading discord, allowing for transparency. As such, users are able to navigate what they are allowed/not-allowed to do.

Maybe @Sythe can provide some insight.

Similar to your initial point, staff are capable enough to determine when a rouge user is acting on their own accord. In saying that, this needs to be defined clearly within the rules.

For example, there may be a rouge user attempting to trade in one's discord, however, what reasonable measure does the owner (or staff) of said discord need to take in order to be absolved of any liability? Is it banning the user once? Verbally warning them? Banning them until they stop? Such thresholds need to be clearly established and defined.

The answer to this is long, and I cbf typing an essay atm lul.

So i'll be opening up a market for game boosting for Apex Legends, Fortnite, Rocket League, etc... Will that be allowed to be advertised in my signature?

 

If it's not a trading discord, then yes.

Thank you for the clarification on multiple the multiple points of interest I've attempted to gain exact specifications on.

This will be one of those things that has a built over time rule list by staff here as well trial and error by providers.

All of this makes sense in regards to why trading discords should be banned and personally I support this change, hopefully those who run these said discords will be willing to acclimate to said changes ^.^

48 hours is what I was quoted to remove/ban said users who are attempting to trade / corrupt said discord channels that are adhering to Sythes new TOS <3

Excited to see the impact this has on forum/market activity ^.^

You guys need to elaborate on this new rule, and clearly define what is a trading discord, vs what is not. We need transparency. From the OP, I presumed service discords where lumped into the same category as trading discords.

Granted, this new rule is not that difficult to understand. However, as it applies to quite a large sum of the user-base, both current and prospective, it would be useful to have the aforementioned done to some extent. I see the discernible difference now, but that's only due to discussions within this thread.

 

For example :IE are we allowed to give 1 warning and if said user does again we ban or do we need to instantly ban ?

I will give staff time to elaborate further before any other questions are asked.

What about ongoing contracts. some discord server owners paid a lot for rent of signature space/UI. myself including, Some discord servers have "Sythe verified role" which are the only one's who are aloud to advertise (this policy is to lower scam rates)and that is a direct-advertisement for Sythe. for no return (my server is one of those who enforce this policy). Majority of the discord server players are from other means of advertising such as posting on discord servers advertising websites or other discord server channel. it's a mutual benefit for Sythe and the discord servers. I think statistics and more study about this change should be elaborated. and that is not a decision that should be rushed into. How can you tell this isn't a beneficial thing for both Sythe and other discord servers? I haven't heard from a single person i stopped using Sythe because of new discord servers or vice versa as of yet.

Was about to raise this as well. I presume this new rule trumps your contract though. Idk for sure, ask @Sythe.

 

Trading servers help ban vaders avoid the consequences of Sythe as well those with DNT etc etc.

There are many many benefits to this rule to be fair.

This forces users to be truly transparent.

Also this will force those who strictly rely on trading servers to do business because they have been banned or those servers who do not follow Sythes TOS to be disbanded which will help a huge number of people stay safe from scams / headaches for administration here

If there is not TOS that was abided by & this is a forced rule, it shouldn’t be at the expensive of the person that was providing the service (advertising) as they did no wrong doing.

 

People who have DNT or are ban evading can't advertise in servers who follow "Sythe verified" policy. In order to advertise in channels. You need to have "Sythe verified" Role. This is used by discord servers to lower scam rates. Otherwise your limited to general and community chats only.

 

Yes however not all discords are following this meta nor would it be hard for a vader to verify then just camp there without ever using Sythe as a platform to peddle out services.

I do understand this will affect many who do work well within these guidelines but there are many who this will help protect.

This will be an ongoing process I'm sure not something as simple as black and white terminology by any means.
