If you are already in grade 12, you should finish.
I'm in grade 9 and dropping out at the end of the year.

I was a straight A student until year 12 at which point i dropped out at the end of term 3. Now THATS what ya call dropping out ;)

I understand what you're saying about doing courses etc though, and University DEFINITELY isn't for everyone. I got good grades all through school and still didn't want to go, I just wanted to finish year 12 because it looks better on resumes!

There was a survey conducted not too long ago in Australia aimed at University Grads vs Tradesmen of the same age ("dropouts"). The tradesmen were making 3x as much as the Uni Grads were! There is BIG money in bricklaying/carpentry etc.

I wish I could have stuck it out for the last term of Year 12 but circumstances were REALLY messed up. I was doing Maths Studies, Business Studies, English Studies, Physics and Chemistry, which are the five hardest subjects, not including Maths Specialist which is just insanely stupid anyway.. lol. My grandfather passed away, I went through a really hard break-up and was really sick all in the last 3 weeks of term 3 which is when you do ALL of your course summaries, aka I was a shit load of work behind and couldn't be screwed catching up (finished English Studies and got a 17/20, w00t go me! Lol).

But yeh, IMO its all up to you whether you finish Year 12 or not. As long as you have a plan and you're not quitting without a job in mind just because you don't wanna be there. People like that will ALWAYS find it tough getting a job in the future. The younger you start working the easier it is, as people aren't often looking for mid-twenty year olds with no experience as you COST TOO MUCH DAMMIT!!!

Only a moron would go all 11 years, then give up the last 1. Thats my short and simple feelings. Plus what you said in your topic isn't true for a lot of states, don't know about other countries.

You finish 12th grade, you have a pretty good education, in year 12 you take buisness courses. now what? you go to a college (a good one cause hopefully you got B's and up all through high school) and you major in a buisness related course. you finish college and you find work in a major city like manhatten or something like that. you will get over $100,000 a year if you r majoring in a buisness related course and find a good job. Yea it takes longer but its worth it. I know plenty of people that dropped out of school and they are makeing horribe money. One of my brothers friends, hes 35 and still working at Burger King to make a living...he has 1 kid and a wife--thank God the wife has a fairly decent job. So dropping out at grade 12 is a horrible idea. Take the extra years and get a better job that pays more money.

You don't 'gotta' do anything, Its a personal choice whether they want to finish or not, But it does make sense to, especially don't drop out when its almost over, but either way, its there choice. Anything could come up where they cant, or would be hard to finish school.

i guess i am not the one to be giving you advise as i dont know the system very well and i am a freshman (yr 9), but from what i have experienced of high school, it seems all the seniors (yr 12) get get to fuck around the whole time except for the ones that really care about their future and they hit the books. So far for me it seems rather easy, cause i live with my family, and i have a job and i see some people who dropped out of high school and are living on 6.50 USD an hour, and i thin k that that must suck.

To adress your problem, i thihk it would be better for you to finish your school years as you will be more educated and more able to move fields if your plans do not go your way, ex: ghetting the diploma or the tare is much more than a yr 9 had bargained for. It would also make you more versitle if you decided to change your profession or your careeer goals later in life, as you would have received more basic education.

Ok for starters you will not get 64k at 17 wheather you have a degree or not, you will be paying off your hex debt and also you will need to do some work experience before anyone hires you.

Secondly, i finished year 12 i finished it 2 years ago, and i think it was a mistake... i mean i wish i droped out in yr 10 and went to work, because im working at the moment and buying my first house on the 03/04/07. So thats from me finishing yr 12 and just working, although i only have my yr 12 certificated when i reach 22, you can get into uni without an OP so why bother doing year 12 is my point.. to much was put on finishing yr 12.. so yeah in about 2-3 ill look at studying again and getting a dimpola, and best of all ill have all the work experience from what im doing now, so ill get a job easiler than someone just coming out of uni, because these days it isn't all about the study, but the actual workforce intersactions you have..

anyone thats just my two cents

EDIT: and compaired to everyone that i finished high school with and are going on to study uni, must of them only got into what their op could get them in to, or if the classes were full and did something else for 2 years, so really when i go to study they will still have like 2 years to finish want they really want to do, and ill have a house and be studying so ill be more successful then them anyways... and if you do it via correspondence then you'll be able to work more and make more money while getting an higher education (dimpola)

Man, stick it through, No matter if you get your diploma an extra year early or not, you're definitely going to learn more by staying the extra year.

wat i did was i took $150,000 a year(my brother went to college for 12 years and became an amnestegiologist and he makes 4.5 million dollars in 30 years
    and since the dropout already has 12 years+30 years = 42 years which u take 42 x 65,000 dollars and u get 2.73 mil
so sticking it through-4,500,000 for 30 years
    dropping out-2,730,000 for 42 years
so i would go to college
