Feedback from a long standing member

Well, having first come to Sythe in 2007, and returning in in 2010, I have seen many members come and go, and seen all the good and all the bad this site has to offer. I just wanted to take a few minutes to share my experience.

Pros:
I am very impressed with the Sythe staff structure, and those who inhabit it. I have dealt with many of its current and former members over my time here, and I have yet to find one who is a disappointment. I also am pleased with the Market setup, with its rules, and the vouch system over a reputation type thing such as those seen on other market boards.
I am pleased with the High pardon system, a very unique feature which has allowed for some good friends of mine to return to Sythe for stuff that they obviously highly regret doing.
The way the forum in organized is perfect, and I enjoy the diversity of it all, however my focus has always been the RuneScape section.

Cons:
A few minor cons would include the inability to certify yourself as a legitimate trader, whether that be supplying a CERTIFIED residence address, cell number, means of contacting, some sort of paperwork perhaps that could be sent into an admin and certified that would make sure that if you were to scam, there would be serious consequences, or a way of making sure it isnt worth scamming, perhaps a deposit, I dont know. All I know is that I trade a couple times a month, and would be doing alot more if I didnt have to deal with the "I REFUSE TO GO FIRST UNLESS YOUR A MODERATOR/ADMIN/OMM/or you pay OMM fees!" nonsense.
Also, I believe that bug abusing for massive profits is okay, but scamming on runescape is not, is a bit hypocritical. Furthermore, I believe that non malicious hacking (Clarification: I have NEVER, and will NEVER pursue hacking, or even programming, as I have zero interest in it), shouldnt nessicarily qualify as an instant perm banning, as I assume certain people would probably like to KNOW about how it works, and what it involves. Anyway, thats just my two cents.

Summary:
Sythe is a wonderful place for all things gaming, and thats what I am all about. I am here to stay, and am very pleased overall with how Sythe is run, and most of its policies. Thanks for reading.

EDIT : After recieving feedback, I realize for the certified trader idea would be a lot of work, however I figure the number of people who met the base requirements, like minimum 50 vouches with a 1 year join date with a fee attached for the paperwork, that would reduce the number of papers to sift through.

EDIT 2 : It has come to my attention the idea of a certified trader is simply not feasible. No problem, but I will leave my feedback As-is.

Hmm, the first part of the cons you brought up is a great idea. But it will pose a great logistics problem. Sythe admins/moderators do not have that amount of time/resources to ensure everything is verified fully and certify users as legit traders which is why that idea will never come into life.

You have to understand it'll take a great deal of effort to implement that certified traders idea.

Although a seemingly good idea, there are loopholes and exploits revolving around the "Certified" trader method, not to mention the fact I doubt any of the admins wish to deal with all the extra "paperwork" per-say.

Longstanding Marketeers such as R2P/Viou rose their way to the top through months/years of legitimacy, and so have "newfags" such as Arcus/Oxodium. I myself rose to prominent market status in the matter of 1-2 months, without any certification.

Plus, hardly any action could be taken against certified traders who scam. I doubt law enforcement gives two shits about a 12 year old who lost some gold on an online game.

The certification would bring revenue to sythe however like Snow said... Doubt it be implemeneted b/c of the huge user base here. On the other hand a way i look for legit traders are by amount traded... i mean anyone can get 100 vouches selling pins, but 100 vouches selling 100m+ RSGP / buying at a time is impressive.

All good feedback so far. As BigassGamer said, when people see vouches they think PINs, or small stuff. 90% of my vouches are worth MINIMUM of around 50$, the majority being worth hundreds. I have been here for over 2 years now, and have been active within many sections, and yet I still struggle to get trades done with many of the newcomers as they demand I pay OMM fees for petty, or massively large trades, a real pain in the ass.

What am I doing wrong, what do I need to do to become a more recognized trader?

Trust is nothing that can be certified by others or authorised, the way sythe.org works is that you build your own trust on our forums, the only way to become trustworthy is all to do with your character, how you trade, how much you trade, etc. its nothing that we can really help with.

There's no real set criteria one can achieve to be deemed "Trustworthy" on Sythe, each of the top traders have their own stories as to how they reached their success. Just find out what works for you, and stick with it.

Donations are kind of a recognizable trait for sellers - why scam when your account that has donated $100 from will be banned. My philosophy - trust up to donation amount. Then add in vouches and notability.

Sythe.org as a forum doesn't term its own members trustworthy (unless you have the Highly trusted rank which is usually given to ex-admins or mods). Trust is gained through the trades you've completed, the amount of vouches you have gained, your contributions to the site whether they are in donations or through improving the quality of the site. Not through some sort of certification or paper that verifies your identity. Ultimately trust is only considered by the person you're trading with. Whether they deem you trustworthy or not is your problem, not the people who control/run sythe.org. And why are you getting mad over people not wanting to go first to you and wanting to use an OMM ? We're talking about real money here; people are very cautious with who they trade with and how they distribute their wealth. Sure you may have vouches to back yourself up, but an official middleman adds an extra level of security to the transaction. People work hard for their money, so they have the right to be cautious and deny a trade with a user if an official middleman is not used. People only want the best for themselves and you when dealing in a transaction, and that is what official middlemans provide. You can't force someone to go first to you just because you have some sort of certification or X number of vouches, trust is to be determined solely by them, not you.

This wasnt posted in the suggestions section :x. This is just my feedback in terms of pros and cons, and I have already acknowledged the fact that you wont be able to certify yourself. Also, I am not "Mad" about people refusing to go first or wanting to use OMM, I don't think you really understood what I was saying.....I was simply slightly irked that a guy with little to no vouches should demand I go first, or the fact that a 1-5 vouch person demands I, not him need to pay 10% for a trade worth like 5 M, etc. If they want to use OMM, I have no problem with that. And to your last line, I never tried, or will ever, or even suggest that someone should be required to go first based on X number of vouches or a certification....

tl;dr this isnt a suggestion, this is feedback, and and I am not trying to force anyone to go first to me, and No, I am not mad about anything on Sythe....
