I don't think someone going around posting stuff like this to people's threads should be in a position of power, especially an administrator. He's abusing his power to piss people off and I've seen comments like these from this admin countless times. This is ridiculously stupid especially since he's gotten a few support already. This shows he doesn't care about the situation, it shows that no matter what the guy does he's still going to stay no, basically abusing his power. I haven't read into the situation but if it's gotten supports from reputable members then there's not really a reason to be so aggressive and mean towards the person, unless there's hidden information in which I highly doubt.

 

Please explain to me how is he abusing his power by saying the person should remain banned?

He did not close the pardon. He did not veto it. He was simply posting his opinion on the matter, and telling him "Hell no, stay banned"

There is absolutely no abuse of power what so ever in that post, just an aggressive choice of words/tone.

Just because a person has several supports, does not mean everyone else has to agree and support as well. The pardon system exists for a reason, it's a check and balance system. Some newer staff members may not be aware of what a user has done in the past, and blindly support. This is where the older staff (such as myself and FireZ, as well as several others) can step in and put the brakes on things, and bring the others up to speed.

 

The way he's saying it is unprofessional and is just taunting the person to get mad. He's already trying to pay back the people that have been affected and made a long post, so having such an aggressive approach is unnecessary. Staff, especially administrators, are supposed to handle and de-escalate situations and sort things out, have mature responses, and provide good reason for they're actions. I know there are a few staff members who've been here for awhile that posted to support his unban. With the newer staff members, if Firez believed that they didn't know what was going on, given his response he should of gave an explanation. I would expect that from any staff member making a decision that they thought other staff members didn't have the full story on. Also if a staff member is blindly supporting an issue and not looking into the topic before they make a decision they shouldn't be staff.

 

You should get more developers to help you.. The suggestion forum is looking kinda scary

 

Always helps with forum problems, I think alot of people kind of view u as semi inactive but frankly I sit here everyday and read ur arguements & logic and I love how you can sit down and make a logical well thought out argument and defend ur posistion(prove ur existence within a state).


I dont think we ever need to see what you do, the sites 24/7 and is still the biggest trading forum online for virtual goods, You deserve where ur at +1.

 

Not feedback, but a question: Have you heavily modified your own view of Sythe.org from your profile with extra custom stuff, or do you prefer most of the vB defaults?

 

Doing a great job with the port over. I know there's a lot to be done and you have other responsibilities to take care of, but I've been quite pleased with everything thus far.

 

I've appreciated that you made a real effort to keep in contact with the staff throughout the transition period, it was very easy to get a hold of you if we were having issues.

I wouldn't take it personally, considering he's actually moving to a whole new country at the moment. Not to mention the fact he probably receives thousands of PM's from different members.

Lets be real here tho, Sythe should unban lean lol, he was insanely active in the community and his ban is all drama.

Me and some other staff members might not agree with what you're currently doing but I truly hope it'll end up turning out to be a positive thing, just wish you had discussed it first.

 

Glad to see the recent community involvement and increase in general activity. Hope the strategies you are using will turn out successful in increasing traffic on the site. Would be great to have 500+ people on at all times rather than the usual 150-250.

 

Controversial as it is (and I still don't 100% agree with unbanning them), the recent DNT policy has injected a lot of life back into the community (or Spam Forum I guess).

Maybe we've been looking at this the wrong way the whole time - the only way to make the community more active is not by trying to increase the amount of new people, but increase the amount of past ones...

 

Have to agree the recent surge of oldies actively coming back, who aren't DNT, is a lovely thing to see. DNT has it's small benefits, repayments, and activity in Spam Forum, which I'm grateful for. Although very controversial and very opinionated propositions being made here. Perhaps in the long run it will utilize the best interests of the community. Also your increase in activity to promote a better site welfare, all across the boards, not just RS or market is definitely needed, and who can that be best done by, other then yourself.

Also for listening to all the little things that make the site easier to use and a better community to be apart of, like bringing back referral system. making phones visually easier to deal with. Getting idea's and solutions actively going and working much faster then expected. Very pleased with that. +1 Matthew as well.

@Sythe, you have been doing an excellent job man. I feel you have always been a lurker over the last few years or so... just reading and reading what everyone says and then molding those ideas into features or additions to the site without actually asking what people thought about it (and I dont mean their approval). I'm glad to see that you have pulled the reigns back into your hands more so now then back in the day - like 2010-2012 when you let the staff decide pretty much everything.


The best part is though that you don't mind asking for our help - the users - in coming up with ideas to make Sythe a more active community. Granted, I know you had a lot going on with school and your farm and all, the facts stands that without your active presence, Sythe as a site suffers. Your diligence shows too, because even though you just relocated to a new country, you still were here logged on daily and I am sure you put in a lot of hours to the site.

Richard, I think that the rest of this year and into 2017 will see a resurgance and I think that will be because of your continued efforts into making Sythe the leading virtual marketplace/community. You built this, so I hope you continue to give us users a place to talk, trade, and enjoy for years to come.

So glad you decided to get more involved, the community is so much better for it. The rush of new users, the new content, the updates, the suggestions, and everything else. Things are really moving in a great direction. Even the unbanning of users, it's kind of a weird decision, but in the spirit of community, it makes sense to me. I was starting to visit this site less and less with it seemingly dying, but you really pulled it from the grave and made it fun again. I hope to see it continue to rise and grow.

 

@Sythe, amazing changes you and your team have done the forums, thank you for giving me and many others a 2nd chance.
I love the look of the forums, so much smoother and cleaner in my opinion.
