Without knowing the real reason(s) behind the demotion (if the issue with James wasn't fully it), then it's hard to say for sure. But I do feel that he should be given the rank.

With this logic I should be getting ex-sectional rank also (I know people are going to pull the "3 months" card, but there were issues I helped the staff even after I was off the team)
They're not exactly gonna tell you you're on verge of a demotion because some people tend to do very silly things when under stress / being threatened. A fictional example like quickly running through and screenshotting the staff lounge and then saying "you can't demote me now!" is exactly why you don't get any warning or such beforehand.
I think the general reasoning Blade is that you've always been like this. Since I first saw you on the site years ago, you always had this strange "I'm better than you" attitude around yourself. It's difficult to explain but you always had that "different" sort of attitude in you, right from the start. As a mod, you were mostly okay in terms of work. Spam / scam reports.. blah blah blah, that's not what people are complaining about. It's just the general attitude you've always had about you, for a staff member it just didn't suit you.
Also, Syed and jCash (among others) got their ex-mod in the end even after getting demoted / banned. So the rule can be bent to an extent. It's really case by case.
This is a joke right? Do you even know my demotion reason?I'm not going to make this about you but you leaked staff lounge and shouldn't even still be on this site with your past actions. Blade on the other hand did a lot of the unpleasant jobs that will take longer to get done.

nah laptop was a better mod lol, give him ex-mod first
but for real i feel like if staff talked to him about this shit in January and he still couldn't up his game then he obviously didn't belong on staff.
Staff who are removed from the team are not eligible for retired staff ranks. This is how it has always been.
Wasn't aware of this.
If an exception were to be made for you, it would need to be done for others who were also removed. With that being said, it doesn't make much sense to continue fighting for the rank. Honestly, you dug your own grave by not being professional til the very end.
@OP -
You'll soon realize the politics of this site are ridiculous and can hardly be considered "politics" at all. If what you're saying is true and you were not spoken to or warned of consequences regarding your behaviour, then you're right in assuming that you shouldn't have been demoted in the first place. However, this site does not operate upon fairness. It's a Runescape Cheating forum; a website based around a dying game for children which uses a mutated form of democracy in the name of this non-existent fairness. I was staff for ~6 years. I can tell you now it isn't worth the trouble. If I were you I'd cut my losses and move on.
My attitude can come off as unprofessional at times, I'll address it below. As well, the exception is for the time I've put into Sythe and the idiotic nature of my demotion with minor problems.
I'm quite aware of sithdrama (renamed because ********** is blocked.) and I've been around for awhile as well, though you have mountains more experience. Given the nature of the site, I didn't believe I'd need to use military-type addressing of normal users, and deal with nonsense when it's presented to me from higher ranks. This isn't my job, I can't get my pay docked by an Admin who doesn't like me on these forums. I understand maintaining proper composure. I haven't flamed anyone, certainly not in public. There are times when my attitude was far beyond expected and I was corrected. These are experiences I have used to bring improvement on a personal level. I have yet to duplicate the same mistake, and I have been learning and progressing as a user and moderator.
As well, the "cut my losses" approach has been presented, but I'm not the type to give up. I like the site and the community. Sure I can agree that it is in decline, but with actual effort from caring volunteers I fully believe that the activity trend may be reversed. Sythe has a unique niche in the gaming world that will always exist, we simply need to assure that we offer the best environment for this setting, with the best features.
Extremely important towards completing this task is keeping on caring moderators. I've made my mistakes, I've admitted them, but my input to discussions, positive decisions and guidance far outweigh the few mistakes I have made in my tenure.

Lean > Lean (Lack of activity)
gain overwhelming support from the community.
Sorry dude but support from the community really doesn't actually mean anything. I had loads of people writing in for me when I got demoted, but aside from making you feel a bit more positive, it doesn't actually mean / do anything.I've received copious amounts of private support, and a good bit here in under 24hours.
Like Blu said, unless you have a considerable amount of friends in upper staff (or even an admin), not a lot is going to be done. Sectionals are very easy to replace.Staff won't be posting here in my defense, they're discussing in private.
It's pretty rare for an admin's decision to be reversed. And from the way Govind wrote the PM, it sounds like Globals had a saying in it too.I'm not going to pretend that every decision is golden simply because the users' name is yellow.
Demotions are not just issued out of the blue, they have to discuss and talk about this and that before they'll do it. Seeing as they've made this decision, it means they've had talks about it and are sure on it.If I was an admin, I'd expect the same from everyone else. We all make mistakes, again.
Lean has ex-global tho.
