Ex-Staff 2FA Requirement

The issue is how to enforce and monitor this (which is where we are currently @ with this suggestion in SL)

 

Curious, is this a requirement for the current staff as it is?

 

It is among "other" protection methods.

 

Are these protective measures not known to public?
I was just curious why it's being "forced" upon ex-staff, yet it don't seem a lot of current staff have 2FA enabled.

 

2FA is a requirement for staff, and every staff member has it activated.
It's still possible to hide the minirank from the public though.

 

Couldn't you just get an admin or assign a mod. To send messages to all the ex-mods skypes/emails or anyother method of contact they have listed. Give them 30 days to read the messages. If they don't respond just either remove there ex-mod ranks/temp ban them till they contact a staff member of sythe.

 

Unless there are several hundred ex-mods, it doesn't seem to hard to manually contact them via what wafer said ?

Mhm. I think the best way would be to remove all ex-mod ranks then go through and reapply the ranks to those who have 2fa. If you want your rank you have to add 2fa. We'd just have to be careful that we didn't add a rank to a hacked ex-mod with 2fa.

 

I think that would be a sensible approach to this. If this has not been done already, it should be done soon

 

Taken too long at this rate, no doubt the douchebag who's been hijacking the old ex-staff accounts has seen this thread and worked as quickly as possible to get on as many remaining vulnerable ex-staff accounts before this gets put into effect.

Still... it needs to be done either way.

 

We've stopped those by requiring old passwords to be changed before log in a number of weeks ago. Shouldn't happen now.

Fully support! Newcomers are easy victims for ex-mods.

 

I guess I'll formally label this approved, all staff, omms, and anyone who leaves either of these teams will be mandated to have 2fa (as they already are mandated to do so)
