I don't believe this is necessary, after all, a good buyer will ask for screenshots.

I suppose in the end there needs to be more user awareness and moderator activity in the Steam Account Section.

It just feels hopeless sometimes. =|

 

Not using a MM doesn't necessarily mean they are scammers, but when you need to make snap judgments about someone, you use what you have.

There's heaps of scammers on most of the trading sections and it's somebodie's own fault if they go first to a leecher with an unreal steam account...
As long as your members aren't stupid, sythe is ok.

 

An 'Other Games Mod' would be quite amiable in my opinion.
This section is probably where the majority of scams go down.

Really all that needs to be done is have a screenshot for a four digit, much how like you need screenshots for WoW characters or at least an armory link.

thanks for using my thread ,but in the bigger picture there are alot of scammers like i get messages everyday from random people asking about something ,but then saying sythe is stubid and i scam people...There are way to many for me to report plus I have a life to attend to so yea

 

In fact Steam trades are not the easy ones, I have 7 number ID and I joined in 2005 march, So 4 number Steam ID is like UBER rare.
Screenshots from INGAME rule should be added (Or thread closed and maker infracted)

 

I just say xeleration needs to be a Market Mod. Plenty of vouches, intelligent, and would do well.

I agree with such points as made in the OP.

 

Why jump to conclusions? Its very possible a lot of these leechers have the 4 digits that post. I remember a user named BEEJAY, He has vouches from a lot of users claiming they bought 4s. Well known users. My point being you can't say “I Don't have that many 4 digits, OMG NO WAY HE DOES!!!".

I agree with Xel completely. Far too much scamming occurs due to the fact that people are gullible, and mods don't follow up on ridiculous claims. I've seen people offering $500 for mediocre runescape account, and I get an infraction for commenting.

 

Mods don't follow up on ridiculous claims because they are exactly that, ridiculous. They will ban someone without question if airtight proof is provided, but they don't have time to scrounge the forums for proof.

If you're complaining about an infraction do it in the correct forum. This thread is for discussion, not you simply agreeing with me.

Xel, your idea is in line with my idea. It would be a bit silly to post the same thing twice.

I do have a suggestion. Before anyone can start posting in market sections, they must read a thread detailing possible scams and ways to prevent them. I've seen this on other websites and it works well to educate new users.. Considering new users are the majority of people being scammed.

 

Are you suggesting the forced rule acceptance with the timer button?
There's no way to force someone to read the rules unfortunately, and even those who read them quickly forget or continue to break them. It's easy to tell when someone is lax and forgets a rule, or never cared about them to begin with.

Buyers need to check vouches, check their legitimacy, and check their reliability. Vouches from new users or for small trades/services should not be counted when judging someone's legitimacy.
