drawn ASAP Rocky portrait

Really nice work. Looks fantastic, you did a really good job with that smudge stick haha. You might consider adding some texture to his lips as theyre pretty whited out, some more faint lines like you have around the corners of his mouth might look good.

Again, great job with the shading. But I wont be astounded until you can do that without tracing shoot for the moon dude.

 

yeah i thank thats why i did so good is because i traced it. my teacher says theres nothing wrong with it but still i feel like a cheated it a way. but the traced part was only about 5% of the work.
and the detail i wanted to go and add the pores and every little detail but i didn't have time i had to turn it in. i only had 2 weeks to do it and i go to work and school every day.

honestly all i did is do it lol like i said this was my first one. what i did is take a hi res pic of the person you want to draw. make it black and white in photoshop. next i printed 2 of them on 11 x 17 paper so that if would fit nicely on my illustration board. then carbonize the back of one with my ebony pencil or with a 8b or your highest b pencil or if you have a graphite stick it makes it go a lot faster. ( do not use a charcoal stick)
next tape it to your board with drafting tape aka masking tape. then draw in the basic parts of his face so that you will know where to put everything.(use a ballpoint pen) then start shading, my teacher said to start will the eyes, i sharted with the mouth because it looked like it had a lot of detail. i also used a smudge stick but a lot of people say that there for amateurs but i like how it gets rid of the pencil lines and fills in the shades within the holes in the paper. but other than that. i just did it an yeah lol
one exercise we did was to make a fuzzball. you just make a dot and then make it fade out. its only about a quarter size once your done.

Nice work. For a first time that's really good, my attention is instantly drawn to the hair line when i look at it though, probably just the reference picture you chose to use.

some what not really. i used to draw graffiti all the time in school. but now i hardly draw at all. i just took the basic shading ive learned by doing shapes, and still life's. and just kinda went at it, i hate to say it but it kinda came naturally. i always thought i sucked at portraits but ive never attempted one, but now i had too, so i just kinda did it lol.

 

must say, you can draw pretty good!

the shading is very nice. the hair is a little dark, but overall it is a pretty accurate charicature!
