    Thats a silly tactic to play. You and I were arguing about 1/x where x = infinity, not 0.999 bar.

    A number of mathematical proofs have been discussed within this thread now. Anyone who still believes that 0.99999 recurring is not equal to 1 must now disprove the presented proofs or forfeit.

    well.. first of all ur all dummmy's :) if you do 1:3 u get 0.333333333... but the final number is a 4 because well you can get a 1:3 to be a perfect 0.333.. so that 4.. is the 0.00000000..1 that makes the 0.9999999...... go to 1.. :) there u go solved

    No...duh.

    Thats why if you buy an item in rs for .999 and sell it for 1 you earn .001. :D

    Go back to school. 1/4 is .25 not .4

    1/4 can be and IS .25 so 1/3 CAN be .3 and IS .3.

    Well, all right, I see what you mean. If x is truly infinity, then it would seem that the answer is zero. However, the way I learned math, you could not assign a variable a value of infinity, but rather, approaching infinity.
