[denied] Identification Verfication

Hello,

One one hand, you may feel safer trading with people that provided said platform with their IDs / have verified their identity in some way, but on the other hand there are now (presumably) multiple current staff members and future staff members with access to your ID. This may seems acceptable to you, until your online presence in this market is big enough that people could be interested in having your private information. You also don't know what said staff members do with this information. There have always been people with unhealthy (sometimes even pathological) obsession in digging is one's privacy, even on sythe and amongst staff members.
What is worse, you don't know how is this information stored, or if some staff members don't have your ID, or any information they were able to find on you stored somewhere. Imagine a staff member gets hacked (easily by downloading some RSPS client - I think this was Wortel's case).

Really, do not share your information online like this.

Is it even effective in preventing scams? One can easily fake an ID.

What you are suggesting is a big barrier for people (rightfully) worried about their privacy, while to scammers it's only a slight inconvenience, because now they have to fake their ID / have someone fake their ID / use someone else's ID.

I don't really feel like providing an ID myself, tbh.

Do not underestimate trolls.

EDIT: I will actually expand on this. With your name, you can search through other databases, whether it's forums, schools, social medias and you can find where someone lives, what are his phone numbers, where does he work, who are his relatives and what's their contact information.

Yeah, that's quite (not 100%, but quite) how it is with any recovery information of this nature, including IDs, but man if you don't mind a rectal scan from our admin team, then for sure. Our admins tend to be decent, but they are only humans too.

 

I'll put it like this; the chance of someone misusing your ID is very slim, especially if you are not that active and people don't even know you exist / you haven't made anyone angry, but the potential damage it can cause is sufficiently big enough, that a significant % of our users would use a different platform (and that's not good your for you either. Competition is good).

The ID requirement is not stopping a scammer and it can give a customer a false sense of security, not realizing how easy it is to fake an ID.

 

Sythe is a free market and requiring ID is something that has been denied in the past, no support.

 

I consulted another global moderator and we decided to close this as it's on the don't suggest list and reasons quoted above.
