[Denied] DNT shouldn't be allowed on spam forums (including discord main channel)

DNT shouldn't be allowed on spam forum or discord main channel

For:
-Extra punishment
-Correlation with being most toxic people (scammers by nature)
-Makes it harder for them to elicit "non-sythe" trades (which do happen openly in the discord channel)
-They should take time away from sythe to repent, reinvent themselves, to come back fresh rather than to spoil further and become more toxic by remaining active only in the cesspit of this forum
-Increases likelihood of them repaying debts
-Being DNT and SCAMMING is not a joke so why are DNT being glorified with all this attention that they so dearly never received during their childhood

And how would you handle people who have been given a "precautionary DNT" there is no difference between a precautionary DNT to a user and a permanent DNT in the eyes of sythe, are you saying legitimate traders who say haven't been given the chance to defend themselves should be kicked from the discord because their reply wasn't fast enough for these gun-ho DNT slinging Mods we got right now?

Not to mention spam forum is meant to be not a professional setting like in RaS or other serious forums it is where people go to have fun, weirdly enough alot of the fun is poking fun at said DNT users you want to remove from the platform and removing a core part of the activity in that forum. Maybe if you actually participated in the spam form actively like most of the DNT users you would see that it is mostly just jokes at one's expense with it being nothing more than that.

Precautionary DNT people can legit just rejoin, its no biggie. Also, isn't it for staff to just kick DNT people when they see em anyways? Not auto.

So you're saying a core part of sythe activity is poking fun at scammers? Giving them attention and keeping them relevant to the forum. Doesn't sound great put on paper does it.

 

DNT is not a punishment, it is for the protection of others.

So your suggestion is to punish users who are not meant to be punished?

Once punishment (ban period) for an offence has been served it is finalized and the punishment is complete.

They can't participate in markets but this does not mean they are banned from participating in the community, this is also why DNT users are allowed to participate in CDT events but not allowed to claim prizes with outstanding debt.

How wrong this is, is honestly just laughable people who are isolated will find that as a reason to NOT pay back their debts, but the DNT users who have scammed and have outstanding debt who are apart of the community (on discord) are more likely to pay back their debt than someone who is not allowed to interact with others.

If you were active you would know that these people are not horrible people who have scammed and feel no remorse or show no emotion. The discord is just people having fun getting through the day enjoying one another's company, like playing games or chatting on voice with DNT users. They are normal people who did something the moderators of sythe determined to be a risk to the community. Hell some of these users have 0 debt and are in the process of pardoning.

@Cherub If you have an issue with these "scammers" maybe instead of brushing them off as scum of the earth, have a conversation with them, you will find they do infact have a soul regardless of their standing on sythe and should NOT be excluded from hanging out in discord or spam forum.

 

A fine argument @Poat , although these people haven't fully progressed through the pardon system. I have nothing against pardoned users.

If these users are DNT to protect others, why are they allowed to interact freely with them?

If you want to chat with users that are DNT, you can DM them on discord or use other unofficial servers.

 

While i agree with your point some trading does happen in the general chat that is not the fault of the DNT witnessing that and the protection portion of the statement is protection from trading as i mentioned very minimal trading occurs in the discord main channel. This doesn't mean they should be excluded from the general discussion users have in the discord. Same with spam forum i dont think i have personally seen a single trade go down there so why should they be banned from seeing that forum.

 

While I get where @Poat is coming from, I'm actually in favor of this. Though, I get that cases where the DNT was self requested is gonna be complicated and probably people will be banned in error from the server. However, while I agree to an extent that a DNT shouldn't be a punishment, I don't think we should sugar coat them either. The majority of DNT users are in debts and I'm getting under the impression that those users were previously already active in the Spam Forum, therefore being granted back to the community without any repercussions isn't exactly the worst that could happen to them.

 

Support. i’ve always found it quite absurd that people that were caught ban evading or actually scamming were allowed to just sit in the discord with a dnt role.These users should indeed be punished by not being allowed to be a part of that along with the spam forum itself.

 

No support as the DNT rank was made as a stepping stone from Banned -> back into the community as a pardoned user. If they can't be partially involved with the community, what's the point of the DNT rank? It was introduced for a reason.

 

Support, DNTs are not useful in the spam forum. They are the absolute SCUM of this establishment and should be outcast. Thanks!

I don't find any correlations what it has to do with spam forums. If you can prove it with context i will likely support. but no support as of yet.

I completely agree with QBD on this. DNT was created to allow community re-integration after debts were paid, etc. As such, spam forum should be the last sub-forum that a DNT should be banned from, in my opinion. No support there.


As for the discord.. that's a different story. Quite frankly, I understand the argument FOR DNT discord removals. At the same time, it's not hard for a scammer/banned user to create another account to access the discord. With that in mind, I'm not convinced what's best in regards to this.

 

Support, spam forums is where the majority of conversations happen from this community & it literally has became a joke or meme to be DNT’d when I’m reality the reason they are DNT’d is most likely due to scamming someone out of there hard earned money. They can engage in the community on Sythe, through suggestions & community general, leave them out of spam forum because all they do their is try to be funny.

 

I urge you to read the thread on DNT's & why this integral forum change was made. If this passes, the published reasoning behind DNT's needs to be changed, as this suggestion is counter-intuitive to the logic backing DNT's creation.
Again, the SF suggestion does not make sense to me. I understand the logic behind the discord removal, though.

• DNT encourages people to pardon because they can reintegrate first into the community -- regaining limited access to their account provides an on-going incentive to repay.
• DNT acknowledges that people make mistakes and can change.
• DNT acknowledges that people should not be continually punished for past mistakes; that punishment is finite and once served should not be served again for the same event (double jeopardy)
• DNT allows the community spirit to continue while debts are being repaid.
• DNT means that friend groups are not split up (for example one your friends is banned) thus encouraging overall activity and better community cohesion. This will encourage new users to join and help to grow the site.

Understanding the DNT (Do Not Trade) rank

 

Although alot of the DNT ranks are based around legitimate shady activity, quite a few of them aren't causing genuine grief for some having to explain their way out of it.

At present they're being handed out more than lollies on Halloween at a biased rate at best depending on the users forum status.

I support the DNT ranks entirely for why it was integrated and what they're trying to achieve by it and believe the current way they're maintained is sufficient.

No support for outcasting them from other areas of the community.

 

DNT’s shouldn’t be allowed to do anything on the forum / Discord.

 

While I agree that scammers should not have access to Discord or Spam forum until they repay their debts, the DNT structure isn’t going to change.

As mentioned above the DNT rank was made to transition users looking to repay their debt from being banned to being accepted back onto the forum.

While some users may use it to continue being toxic - there is a chance that giving DNT users access to view these will motivate them into coming back into the community and repaying their victims, which in the end I believe is worth it. Just my opinion on the situation.
