[Denied] CDT Requirements and efforts

Before every holiday or special occasion CDT is given the opportunity to brainstorm ideas.
However, new events are rarely introduced.

Read above.
That is one of the requirements to join CDT.
Now think to yourself, how many times have we seen any of the following events?

• Fashionscape contest​
• Picture taking contest​
• Meme making contest​
• Card design contest​
• Cookout contest​

There is nothing unique about these events and all of them get suggested every single time.​

Suggesting events that take place over and over again is not thinking outside the box. Literally any member on Sythe could do this and thus nothing sets CDT apart from regular members.
Don't get me wrong, they are really fun events! But it is redundant.

My suggestion would be to:
Put more pressure on CDT to actually invent new concepts as stated in the application form.​

This would require each member to present at least one new idea every time it is time for suggestions.
The events listed above would still take place every now and then, but they would not count as new suggestions. Anybody on Sythe could suggest those events​

 

Putting pressure on people in a voluntary position isn't going to make them more productive all of a sudden. You'd either have to incentivize CDT ($$$) or help them out.

The latter seems more reasonable. Back when I ran CDT we briefly had a "suggest an event" thread that was open to the public. Perhaps bringing that back could be useful.

 

New events would seem nice

 

As a previous member of CDT you should be aware there are open threads for this very concept, Personally I'm against just shoveling out unthought out ideas for the sake of doing so.

Id honestly love to see more activity in the feedback/suggestion thread as it would let us know what we are doing wrong or letting us know you enjoyed the event so we may be able to gauge how the community feels, let us know if an event sucked, tell us why you thought it sucked. It lets us know how to better involve members. Without feedback it's hard to make something people want.

It's like if you were trying to make someone graphics but instead of them telling you what they don't like about it, they just say "This sucks you can do better".

Offer a solution to the "problem" instead of pointing your finger and saying "Bad, me no like fix it."

I could have phrased that better. I think that CDT members should have the drive to come up with new ideas. It's in the application form after all. If CDT has that requirement to join, I also expect some creativity from them. Otherwise nothing sets CDT members apart from regular members and thus there is no reason to deny that many people. Anybody can join CDT and suggest old events that has already been several times.

Every now and then you do meet less creative minds when you make graphics. They may not always know what they want nor do they have a vision. It is then up to me - as the creative artist - to come up with a piece I think would suit the customer better. I do think CDT's main task is to drive the development of this community forward. The aim of my suggestion is to tackle the problem that CDT keeps suggesting and hosting the same concepts over and over which contravenes the application requirements of being creative.

The team should tackle the "problem" and find solutions with their creative minds. If you expect the general members to find solutions and come up with new ideas, then there is really no substance behind the application requirements or CDT at all for that matter.

That does not contribute to the discussion regarding the suggestion. What are your thoughts on the topic?

I don't think i've seen anyone claim to be special because they are CDT, it is my opinion that CDT is a group of members who host events to engage the community for the most part we are all active forum members who just want to help out. (Maybe a few jokes but I doubt anyone genuinely believes they are superiour to other members)

So your suggestion is to either A) Remove the specific part of the application found here

or B) do what we are already doing and make concepts for possible events.

The suggestion thread is because you are telling us to come up with new ideas but without feedback from the members who participate how will we know what they did or did not like, how are we supposed to cater events to better suit the public if they don't let us know how they feel about events. You are giving us feedback right now by letting us know you don't enjoy seeing events multiple times.

 

CDT role isn't to suggest events, it's to execute them. As you said anyone can make suggestions and it's not something you should get a rank for. I'm quite sure they would consider any cool ideas suggested by anyone. Also keep in mind it's voluntary work, so if no one better wants to do it, we can't complain.

 

In general, I think it's funny to see how many CDT members take a defensive stance and passively protect their inner circle by liking each other's posts. Instead of joining the discussion and actually developing the community.

There has been several posts on the CDT event suggestion thread that has gotten 0 response. People are giving feedback and have told you what they want to see. Yet no one has implemented them or even responded to the suggestions. Again, the aim of my suggestion is to tackle the problem that CDT keeps suggesting and hosting the same concepts over and over again without coming up with anything new. It's ridiculous when you consider how many ideas I personally brought to the table but was ignored.

Have you read the threads explaining CDT? Being on the CDT requires thinking outside the box to come up with unique ideas. Their role is also to execute them, but we have seen many suggestions not executed. Instead they've gotten ignored.

Funny you mention this. CDT several new applications every week. There are plenty of people who want to do it. But they do not get a chance because of the nepotism.

 

You don't need a CDT rank to host some fun events, corruption and nepotism begin when a person is only willing to do it if he gets a rank.

 

I understand both perspectives but I think everyone can agree the events can be better and more fun instead of people just doing them for the mini-ranks. Is it wrong to complain for being able to see a problem? I understand complaining and just highlighting problems isn't healthy but the first step is admitting there is a problem I find the CDT is overly defensive and can't even admit there is a problem. I have no problems with members of the CDT and have most of the time got on quite well with them. I do have some solutions and suggestions I will be putting them forward such as some fun events which I think people will enjoy without any reward of minis. I just think the minirank market needs to be fixed before because minis and CDT events seem to go hand in hand. People think I have some vested interest in miniranks so that's why I am getting rid of them so people can see I do not have any conflict of interest.

Also I agree with Tigeris I would be willing to help out and host events even though I am not CDT and most likely won't get it don't care about the position care about the community.

 

No you don’t. But you also just claimed that it is CDT’s job to execute community ideas. Are they doing a good job if suggestions are not being executed and just being ignored instead?

 

Why would they ignore a good suggestion tho? if we want to improve cdt we should just make it more visible for all users(Banners for events or smth). Because right now 90% of people on sythe have no idea CDT even exists

 

There is no reason to. There has been plenty of suggestions on the CDT suggestion thread. I remember that I suggested bringing back SOTM but as a brand new concept. That suggestion got completely ignored. When I then joined CDT I suggested it again, but it came to nothing. When I was a member I noticed how passive everyone was. There is more talk about uwu-stuff than anything else and I personally felt a general lack of motivation to drive the community forward.

You're definitely right that you can host events and stuff like that although you are not a member. But I think it is sad to see so many people get de-motivated because their CDT application got denied. Ultimately, all I want is for CDT to put in an extra gear. If they aren't willing to, I know a lot of people who would like to take their spot.

 

I'd also agree sotm/motm is a bad idea in general, with the amount of activity we got rn

 

Crazy idea: Make the next CDT contest "Who can create the best new CDT contest idea"??

 

You can also just do what I did a couple of years ago: just host your own event outside the CDT. Turned out to be the best event to date. @Shin even asked me to host another edition the other day.

@Sythe disband CDT. All it took for you to delete Tech Core was someone caring enough about it to do some work. Surely this is enough to show you that the CDT has turned into a team that just invites their friends and gives out miniranks because they're overvalued. They couldn't even figure out not to give out tier 6 and 7 prizeboxes when they're essentially empty/not done yet. They just resort to immediately giving maximum prize for their minimum effort event since they won't even create any miniranks anymore for their actual events and put them in the appropriate level box based on quantity.
