In regards to Write Your Unwritten Rules..

This is one of the 'unwritten rules' where ruling differs per OP and staff member. As per the rules..
However, a simple search in the Dispute Forum Archive provides you with threads of different users disputing their infractions which were actually being handled rather than dismissed. I know however for a fact that if I were to dispute an infraction in the section the thread would immediately be dismissed.

My suggestion is to adjust the current rule in the sticky to better reflect the reality, which is that you should be allowed to dispute your infraction in the Dispute section when the staff member who infracted you and the admins decide to ignore you.

Essentially right now once someone infracts you, ignores you after and so do the admins - then you're basically fucked. If you then decide to dispute the infraction via the Dispute section and a staff member decides to ride the high horse after, you're basically at a loss.

Infractions hold no meaning basically, so I shouldn't care, but I do think staff members shouldn't be allowed to go and do as they please and rather follow the staff conduct. Being unable to dispute infractions kind of void the possibility to fight decisions made by staff members - which I believe should be a possibility.

I would support as I like the idea of being able to post the dispute and see the responses, for transparency with infractions.

However, how would you suggest the system be put in place?

Would you still need to PM the issuing mod and wait for a response before disputing?
And would the final dispute decision be made by 1 staff of the next higher rank?

The suggestion will lead to wasting staff's time. If a member has strong feelings about infractions, he has the option to reach out to said staff-member. Furthermore, there is a reason multiple infractions are required for punishment. It's a system that allows for users to reflect over their actions and the main-rule is that a commutation of breaches will result in punishment

What do you propose an user should do if the staff member in question and the admins do not respond?

Sounds like a great plan, though disagreements happen and staff members are only humans, so even they can make mistakes.

Essentially the same as the pardon process:
Except for the last part ofcourse. You reach out to the staff member in question, if he doesn't answer, you ask one higher up and if he doesn't respond either, you can dispute it in the Dispute section - though you'll have to provide proof of both not responding to your answers.

Waste of staff time is a fairy tale told by users who haven't been staff before or by existing staff members - and it's ezpz to deny disputes if they do not follow the requirements.

We don't feel the need to update this system currently.
