[DENIED] ADD WARNING STICKY TO MARKET SECTION

Recently I've been made aware of some new trading practices being used like discord(back in my days it was MSN and Skype).
Bitcoin, back in my day it was Paypal, PayPal, and more PayPal, oh and that expensive site where people would sell gold and the website would act as a middleman.

anyways, I bought some gold using BTC, and contacted them through discord. (look at me on the new wave).
and was told It was assumed that I'd wait for the BTC transaction to Gert 1 confirmation. (Though the practice makes sense to protect everybody, it wasn't assumed because I was ignorant to the subject; had I been in a rush(lets say I wanted to gamble it, or lets say I owed it[yes I know you shouldn't gamble if you dont have the funds already] or any other reason that may justify me being a rush. I would have been in a pickle waiting on the confirmation

my simple suggestion is :
either have people state in the T.o.S that there will be a wait until there's 1 confirmation
or add a sticky saying "hey its common for traders to wait for 1 confirmation so that the money is accounted for and cant be taken back"

The argument can be made that this is common knowledge but I infact wasn't aware of this new practice but I promise you I won't be scammed by an impostor, be charged-back or any other newb mistake(because im not necessarily a newb at trading, just have been away for a long time)

 

I honestly felt so new so ignorant when the salesman told me "bro this is common practice" I was like "WHERE WHERE CAN I FIND THIS RULE" and he asked @video and video told him "its not punishable that its not in the T.o.S, its expected" (I wasn't looking to punish anybody but the fact that video said it should be expected prompted me to look for anywhere this might be discussed, and found nothing.
Im looking for a wallet RN that I can verify with a Mexican passport(im a US student and have no DL or state issued ID)

 

yeah its a good idea. PP used to have a lot of stickies and Crypto has become a main payment method, and I think having a stickie on it in the gold sections wouldnt hurt. it would let people know getting into crypto about the 1 confirmation thing, as well as warn ppl for potential double spenders

 

After some research, double spending can actually be pretty critical and is pretty common, and PP did have ALOT of stickies regarding chargebacks/trust the person accepting PP from etc etc thanks for the support!

 

ETH is also accepted by most gold sites and is faster than BTC, so you might want to try using that.

Make a sticky stating "normal practices" or make buyers and or sellers put it in the TOS "For all crypto transactions we will wait for 1 confirmation"

 

good idea man, although the rushing part is none of the sellers concern.

 

Right, its not, but if the buyer isn't made aware of the wait he's going to have to endure, he might have a bad experience and that is not beneficial for the site, for the buyer or for anybody !

 

Support, when I picked up playing and selling a few months back it was way different from what it was in 06-11.

BTC is the main payment (or various crypto).

Gold sale sites who support PP and other methods require tons of steps that can have you waiting hours. Same with some sellers and it not only takes a while but you have to give a lot of information for a low cost purchase.

 

We have way too many stickies on Sythe as it is, but this is probably worth a mention somewhere. Which forum(s) do you want this in? Should it replace an existing sticky or be combined with it?

 

You're right about having too many stickies, perhaps some can be added, removed, or combined (I don't have enough research on said stickies to be able to provide a suggestion on those), but I would want this sticky to be in the overall MARKET sections, or anywhere where the trading practices are talked about, but if I had to be limited I'd add it to the GOLD section seeing as thats where its most relevant.

 

I don't believe we will have a sticky in the market for something like this. It should come as no surprise that if you are trading with bitcoin, users will wait for a confirmation to ensure there is no double spending. When you first purchase bitcoin off of any exchange, you are waiting for confirmations and even additional fraud checks that can take up to a week.

There is a balancing act with stickies, where if you provide too much information, it just gets skipped and ignored. Our current project with stickied threads is to quickly provide warnings and rules in each marketplace in a clear and standardized format. This is simply a non-issue and this can be seen by no reports.
