    I think this would benefit the forum, there are a ton of users who lurk but would rather not type a response. A simple "thumbs down" or "dislike" button would allow users to show disagreement/cast votes without having to elaborate *even if there's no poll option*, and would alleviate the amount of poorly thought out negative responses on forum

    It would also streamline voting processes for new features in future suggestions. Overwhelmingly down voted? The community doesn't want it

    I saw that, the older one you linked reasoning was: admins and staff don't like it, those people are no longer staff

    On the more recent one from 2019 Andy and Pikachu like the idea, they are now staff

    I think it's fine if we keep the precedent of: has been denied in the past, just offering some counter to that for this specific post seeing as the "reasons" are now gone

    Had the referenced threads been more recent and better substantiated, I might have followed through, but I’m on @Primal 's side here.

    I skimmed through the discussions, and staff’s explanations were generally very superficial and limited to points like “we are not Facebook.”

    If adding a downvote option is technically a minor change and could boost forum activity (which I believe it would), then I support it.

    Not everything needs a full explanation, sometimes people just don’t support something and that’s it. But adding a dislike button would probably make things worse, not better. It can make people feel bad or start drama between users. We should be encouraging discussion, not silent negativity.

    Agreed. Some people will dislike posts out of spite.
    In addition to the above, this would also require work that staff is unable to do. I don't see this happening, even if a majority supports the idea.

    I posted the links so other people reading this thread have more information on why this has not been implemented in the past. More information cannot hurt.

    The purpose of the links was not to show opposition to the suggestion. If the decision were solely up to me, I would add a dislike button.

    edit: I would dislike every single post @Pikachu has ever made.

    I like the idea in theory. I don't think it brings much value, though. I don't really see it specifically increasing engagement. If anything, I think it would most likely be used, as others mentioned, for spiteful downvoting.

    People tend to be quicker to express dislike than appreciation. It reminds me of Yelp reviews... when someone has a good experience, they often don’t leave feedback unless it’s exceptional or incentivized. But if they have a bad experience, they’re much more likely to leave a negative review right away.

    Good idea but would require alot of moderation if you want it to be used the right way; too many freaks would abuse it as ''weapon'' as described above. I personally would not support it besides the fact everyone has their own definition and limits of when they're disliking something.

    @God that is correct. Vouch threads are not meant for bad reviews/scam accusations. If you have negative feedback that doesn't accuse a user of scamming, you can leave it on their market thread (with proof) relevant to the trade. Scam accusations are dealt with in the RAS section and handled accordingly.

    Regarding this suggestion - I wouldn’t be opposed to adding a dislike button in the suggestions section.

    I feel like adding it forum wide would lead to it being abused/used to troll as others mentioned above.
