Demoting Farcast? WTF?

I've been looking through what has happened to Farcast and I've seen the reports and saw the voting that resulted in his demotion. I'd like to give my opinion on this and would like the feedback from the community if you read this.

This is the situation that lead up to this contraversy. Basically, Farcast made a merching clan in Runescape called "merchings", it was one of his many ways to show support and power for the sythe community. The thread stated that "whoever dumped early would be banned from Sythe". This is an unethical statement. There can be no evidence found that if a player were to have dumped early, it was simply just a dysfunctional statement.

The clan was merching Dragon Spears and were planning on a dump price of 120k. The first couple of days it raised and then it got early dumped at around 48k. Basically little kiddy cats started crying to their moms they lost their pixels and someone did a scam report on Farcast. It is preposterous to find out if Farcast actually did dump early, unless you tell Jagex to look at their scripts.

well about a week ago Farcast decided to create a merchant clan. This merch clan was mostly made of mostly sythe members. He told us all to buy d spears and we wouldn't dump until 120k. Obviously they were never going to make it to 120k. But, it was clearly stated that if you dumped early you would be banned. So, today the dragon spears crashed and when i asked farcast to see his spears, he said no i have none. He said it via skype so i don't have much proof of that(however grave does). I'm just saying its kinda of sad how someone with a little bit of power can take advantage of that power. He used his power to scam a bunch of sythe members. The reason for this report is so that other sythe members don't get scammed in the same way i did.

August 24th, 2010 is the date that the inncident happened and is pointing out that the D Spears crashed. Farcast told me he did invest in a small amount of D Spears, but it got perm-banned so there was nothing he could do to his d spears on the acc. Here are picture images of proof he could not of.

Even if Farcast's intentions were to be scamming sythe members (even though he never would), it would be physically impossible because his account got banned. So if a staff member could tell me why they continued a poll to decide if Farcast was going to be demoted or not?

I'm not going to pull bullshit into this saying Farcast is a good member and other bullshit, I'm simply posting the evidence on how this whole incident with Farcast is BULLSHIT. Staff, reconsider his position of staff member or atleast comment giving me a sufficiant explanation of why you demoted Farcast.

For Sythe members, I'd like you to comment on your opinion.

I was going to say Farcast shouldn't take the rap for it but i re read the quote and if their was proof that farcast refused to follow the clans rules of showing the merch item then indeed this was his fault. Sorry farcast =(

I wouldn't be banned as he wasn't banned. He used his moderator powers and the result was that people trusted it would of happened and it didn't. He had other money to invest and he failed to comply with what he promised to do. If you have a job, and your car breaks down and you cannot go to that job anymore, you usually are to be fired except for certain circumstances such as getting a ride, new car, or if your boss is leaniant.

merchanting requires no prediction at all as long as people do their job it goes smoothly.

Right, I'm just going to come right out with it. What the Fuck are you talking about? Apart from the fact that it makes no sense at all, it's completely unrelated. I assume you are talking about Farcast's 'job' as his Mod powers, but this was an on-the-side project, Runescape related, nothing directly to do with Sythe (apart from advertising it here to gain members). Farcast clearly has no powers on Runescape, so he was just the same as any other player on there, and had as much of an ability to influence the merch as anyone else. In fact, he stood to lose the most if the merch went badly, as I think he was on of those to invest the most.

I would guess (don't quote me on this) that he did not just sticky his thread by himself, he would have needed to be allowed to do it, but I don't know.

Personally I agree with the OP post. The fact this didn't go the way people intended should in no way at all result in his demotion. The fact of the matter is he is (was?) a good moderator. He did his job well and everyone (from what I can see) likes him.

Demotion under these circumstances would be absurd, even if there was proof that he dumped early, but there clearly is no proof to show that he did. If Farcast were to say that he had no spears, this could clearly be as a result of him being banned. Unless someone has a clear voice recording of him stating "I have no spears because I dumped them early", which can be proven to be him, then there is NO PROOF. Is the saying not 'innocent until proven guilty'?

Technically, Farcast was banned for his own rules, BS or not.

What pissed me off the most is that Farcast (Banned or not)
Never gave us the OK to dump even after the item had started crashing.

So we Were not allowed to dump and had our items for another 4 before Another general came in the cc to tell us we could. and even if you join the cc today, you will see the name still is "Dspears 120K"

Farcast was banned by rules he thought of in the first place, it's sad to see it happen like this. he may/may not deserve this.
but he did drop the ball in what way you look at it.

Farcast was banned on one of his accounts and i feel bad for him because of that.
But he did drop the ball by NOT proving to us he actually had some dragon spears on one account on another

No, I don't agree with the punishment. As well, I wrote up a paragraph or two contradicting everything that was in the report.

The report was Jasdeep trolling, and then trying to get him banned.

As for the people that are running their mouths solely based off the report, get lost. You're posts are useless and truly, you have 0 idea what you're talking about.

What I wrote up a few weeks ago:

between no investing/investing a little. He chose a poor choice of words both with saying in how much he was investing, and how many
spears he had.

He is not guilty of scamming on any decree.. Why would he scam? He's a moderator in two sections, yet he'd risk his Sythe account
for a 6k merch.

I'm sure if the words he chose mislead people, but he isn't guilty of anything. This troll lasted long enough, and all jasdeep
is trying to do is hurt his rep.

I think the demotion was unreasonable, but that's just not right.

I know most won't like this opinion .. but all publicly run merch cc's are scams -- I am sorry but unless you prove that you have an exit strategy for an item no one wants [Dspears], you are essentially saying most of the investors will be screwed unless they are lucky enough to be awake when the dump starts .. in the end, someone will get scammed because you are not generating any cash, just transferring the same amount from one account to another, if you look at it from a very basic level.

However, like everyone else who does Solo merch/clan merch ... you do it at your own risk ... i knew the sythe merch thing would fail hard...so I simply stayed away from it ... I don't see how Farcast can be held responsible for something he really had no way of controlling.

That's one of the points I wanted to make. Sure, Farcast had Sythe mod powers, but that in no way means he has any power on RS, so I think he cannot be held accountable for what happened.

I broke one of my own rules on my thread. That's what they were annoyed about. However, nobody was actually banned for breaking any of my rules on the thread. It's not like I'm creating a double standard. I'm more inclined to say they were used as scare tactics.

I'm disappointed that Farcast was demoted over an issue like this. However if you really have an issue I think that you're better off messaging a staff member about it. All these threads to is create unnecessary drama.
