No, as I have said the issue is NOT community feedback.

If an idea, logistically, is simply not possible to do (forum software etc), why leave open a debate about it? If anything it is giving false hope to the community, because the staff have already dismissed it.

I just think it would be nice for someone to get more time to work out the ideas of their suggestion before being closed so fast. Its true that they should have thought of everything before suggestion, but some people take time. There are alot of threads that are locked because of no chance, but there are still those that just need to be worked on.

A locked suggestion thread never means said individual cannot do another one at a later date with a more refined, specific idea :)

But I see your point of view, but the trick is to refine the idea and then release it for feedback, and not publish a half cocked idea for it to then get locked.

True, but sometimes it takes feedback for it to get better. I just wish they would be a little more lenient sometimes. That way it would encourage more people to suggest and maybe give some ideas a chance to grow. I do agree with you I can't recall to many threads that needed this, but it would be nice and it doesn't seem to have to much of a negative effect when they do allow it.

Staff are not infallable, they could not predict if a suggestion isn't going to get anywhere, there is no need to lock suggestions, if they're bad suggestions they wont get support.

I agree that if it's a bad suggestion it will get no support, but if the staff have no intention of implementing the suggestion to begin with, then the thread itself is surely pointless? (thus may be locked)

I'll put it quite bluntly, in the time I've was staff I've seen less than 5 suggestions get discussed in the SL.
That seems to be the issue to me since a good portion of suggestions were being ignored. I suppose a better analogue would be OGV. Suggestions are put up in the SL and discussed internally. Basically that makes sure the right people see it and implement it if it's worth anything.

Thats because there were only 5 decent suggestions, the rest weren't. The staff are in this forum on an extremely frequent basis, so anything posted here is read so much its usually worn out. Maybe we just need to speed up the process at which a decent suggestion gets moving.

In my opinion, this should be the least moderated section. This should be open for any suggestion, outrageous or not. People should be left to discuss the suggestion, and after awhile, or when all discussion dies down, the thread could then be locked. There's no reason to even lock it in the first place, people should be free to discuss it. Unless mods have to, then that's a different story. Same goes with the feedback section, the staff shouldn't matter what is said about them, as long as there doing there job, there shouldn't be anything to worry about. If someone is so worried about anything bad someone says about them, that should be telling you something. The only time a thread should be locked IMO is if it is completely derailed or is malicious, or if it's only leading to spam.

I agree with the OP entirely, ideas can't reach any real good conclusions if it is locked away prematurely.

Moving to approved section. It's obvious that we need to make sure suggestions are fully considered before moving in and judging "Accepted" or "Denied". I'm moving this now because this thread is like... 6 months old, so it should have been taken care of months ago.

EDIT: Moved back into suggestions for more discussion. My iPhone showed the date format as 06/11/12, so I thought the month was 06 :c

This is a good idea. Constructive criticism is a lot more helpful than complete denial. I think the only reason a suggestion should be locked is if its becoming an outlet for spam or is clearly a troll/joke.
    Just my opinion though.
At least if a suggestions that the staff knows they are not going to implement is posted, let it live for a little while so the poster feels that they are at least getting heard. I feel this would help people build confidence for maybe a potentially better idea.
I mean no one wants to post something if they feel others might think that their is too stupid to even be a part of the forums.
Just my opinion on the matter.

I have to agree 100% with OP.

Some of good ideas have come up by starting with a "bad" idea.

the moderation of the suggestions forum isn't the problem stunting the growth of sythe lol. if the suggestion is outright retarded which at least 90% are then there is no point in keeping it open for "discussion". basically what you're saying is don't lock any suggestion threads so more retards can comment "support"

and you use, way too many commas, in your sentences, dude.

I think FireZ summed it up with his comment, if possible, the staff should speed up the process of a quality suggestion. Other than that, suggestions that are completely invalid should be locked. As for what you're saying about generally leaving discussions unlocked. That very well could lead to more spam to deal with, and ultimately more headaches for the staff in my opinion.
