What sin666 said, how would you even know if the account was inactive, you would have to log onto the account in the first place with the intention to scam the account back. I don't see why this is such a big problem, both of them should be banned because both of them hacked the account back then used "oh it's been inactive that's why I hacked it" you didn't even know that until you recovered the account back.

 

*Shrug* cry like a bitch. This is Sythe, we aren't here to follow what Jagex thinks is morally correct. They don't have a problem with it since there is no way to prove the accounts aren't ours.

I've already told people when they go to purchase an account the last log in date, and if necessary a new account will be given or a refund.

If I get banned, then whatever. I've made around $150.

It's not what Jagex thinks is morally correct, no idea what thread you are reading or where you got that dumbfuck idea. Hacking/scamming accounts (which IS what this is, just in a rather new manner, well newly revealed to Sythe) is morally wrong and against the rules at Sythe.

Most of these accounts have a last log in of 1-2k days ago.

They aren't coming back.

I know alot of people who are selling recovered accounts even today. Recoverings been around since 2004 but started being badly exploited late 2009.

You gain access to an account that isn't by brute forcing the password with a program. You gain access to an account that isn't yours by another method such as abusing Jagex's shitty recovery system. No one thinks it's only you 4, a lot of people recover accounts, but you openly admitted to recovering account that wasn't yours anymore, thus scamming (stolen goods) seeing as there not YOUR accounts anymore.

 

Just to point out i've bought accounts that have been recovered in the past, and have had no problems with them at all.

Completely irrelevant, that has nothing at all to do with anything right now. Never once has 'I bought a recovered account and it was recovered back off me' been brought up. Never once has the security of selling recovered accounts been brought up. Either you missed the entire point of this (how the fuck?) or you are just introducing dumb irrelevant shit into the thread which will only add unnecessary confusion.

The main point is they recovered the account with the intention to scam, then found out it's last log in was a couple hundred days ago and used that as an excuse.

 

I scammed someones account but I didn't drop his gold before he recovered it.

I'd like to avoid telling people, but I feel they have a right to know. I get annoyed with questions about it all day. I'm running an honest business with promises of refunds/a new account if they ever magically got stolen.

If I was here to sell accounts such as xpkerx, (which is active, maxed melee) I would have, but it's last log in was only 50 days ago and therefore it would obviously be recovered.

If a person was last on in 2004 or before that, they aren't coming back.

 

Try reading all the posts, you would've seen that I mentioned the fact that they may not get recovered back after you sell them is irrelevant (they are still on the list you recovered it off right? irrelevant also just thought I'd say that, someone else could recover it if they used the same RSC list for example). If I scam someones account and sell it but promise a refund, I still broke a rule. Also refer to my other post where I edited that I do know what hacking and scamming are, recovering is just a different variation of scamming and hacking, it's just gaining access to their account through a different way which you seem to think is okay.

 

On each sale, did you tell the buyer how you got the account, you are not the original owner and you will offer a refund if it is recovered?

On a side note: There is never a gurantee that the original owner won't come back.

Anything could happen; for example, if a mate of his still plays Runescape, and he talks to him about wines, pumpkins and such, the owner could remember having them stocked on his account and could come back temporarily to sell them for $$. I'd assume alot of old accounts contain ALOT of rares.

 

Indeed they do. Fuzion_Ltd was selling mills he got from recovering a very old account that had 600M worth of masks on it.

Off topic I have seen recovers of accounts with multiple party hat sets, crackers, wines etc.

Anyhow I guess we just wait for the staff to come to a conclusion now.. Seems all the excitement has died in this thread.

Just to let you know, I've quited for over 4 years and started playing again. So don't think people won't get back. I did because I was bored and wanted to see how much runescape had changed in that period of time.
