Also: I wrote it SPECIFICALLY to say "UP TO A ONE MONTH BAN". If the photo was already posted on the site, I don't think the user should be punished with a long ass ban that would be used for someone that posts someones phone number or like address or photo that they found on Facebook.

 

It's not personal anymore the second you post it on that thread (or anywhere on the Internet for that matter). If you're scared people are going to make fun of you in the spam forum, then don't post the picture in the first place.

 

It does not matter whether or not it is publicly available.

 

So wait... If I saw your picture on the front cover of the New York Times and somehow linked it to your Sythe account, I wouldn't be allowed to post that picture on Sythe without your approval? That seems pretty stupid if you ask me.

 

I added that because people complained Marrows? address was public information because it listed for his website. We didn't want people finding shit online and posting it and being like "LOL PUBLIC U NO TOUCH ME". If someone somehow figured out my real name and saw my picture on NYT and posted it, then I'd likely just have it deleted if I cared. I wouldn't want to ban someone for longer unless they wouldn't stop posting the thing... Which is why I also wrote it so that the amount of punishment can vary.

 

I think it was Grave that exposed R2P because his information was listed on the WHOIS or whatever actually.

Anyways, meh... I can see where you are coming from and why that rule was put into place but there's a difference between posting people's addresses/phone numbers/PRIVATE photos and posting something that has already been made public (e.g - uploading a picture of yourself on the 'Faces of Sythe' thread.)

 

Oh that might be right. Idfk. I just know I wrote the thing to be wide and open so the staff could apply it in the right fashion without people bitching... But it might be too open and the staff might be taking advantage of that. Idk.

 

Wait hold on, was that exact photo posted in the faces of Sythe thread? If so I'll be unbanning Shall SKill, because the rule is only about defacement or pictures that haven't already been posted on Sythe.

At least, that's how I remember it being.

If someone could PM me as to whether or not it was on the Faces of Sythe thread/show me where it was posted by Abarta himself I'll happily unban Shall Skill and admit to it being my fault. Thanks dudes

Edit: Turns out it was posted in Faces of Sythe by abarta. That was my fault entirely, should have realized that before banning Justin.

Already PM'd Justin apologizing, and he's been unbanned.

I've known Dave before his promotion into staff and used to sell bulk bonds to him. I've also seen him in his capacity as staff. I know he will do wonderfully in his new position and its well deserved

When you make a massive change to one of the most important aspects of the site, posting the news in an already locked thread that was against the change is the worst possible way you can do it.

Probably wasn't the smartest call, though I didn't really see it as a massive change, however it did unnecessarily turn into a massive ordeal for what I believe was no reason.
