Customer sent bitcoin, never picked up their gold

Just need to know if there is anything I need to do beyond what I've already done, please.

Situation:

• Skype user adds me, request to buy 100m
• I send PM to their supposed Sythe account (to confirm my identity), they confirm receipt
• User sends bitcoin, it takes a LONG time to confirm, I offer to deliver the gold before 1 confirmation, they never respond
• I sent multiple Skype and Sythe PMs to try to deliver this gold, no response
• Later, I realize I got a response to my initial Sythe PM (confirming my identity) but the response from the user makes it appear that they are not aware of the transaction
• More Sythe PMs were sent while the user was online, no response
• This same user later is accused of being a double-spender (without evidence as they are not banned)

I think this user tried to double-spend and accidentally sent the money. Either way, I need to know if there is anything else I need to do here.

I will not refund the bitcoin payment to the address it was sent from, until this user confirms they want it sent to that same address. Admins can PM me for futher info if needed.

Also, I want to confirm that I have these options once the user contacts me:

• Refund original bitcoin amount
• Refund $ amount at time of trade
• Deliver 100m

 

Assuming the sender sent the btc from his own wallet and not an exchange, sending the same amount of btc back to the btc address the payment got sent from wont be a problem as this btc address links to the wallet that was used at the time. To dig in to this you could do some research on xpub keys and how wallet addresses are generated.

It may be noted that if the wallet was used to double spend a transaction the owner of the wallet may find it rather difficult to re-use the returned bitcoin, however this shouldnt concern you

 

but the buyer could cry that it isn't his addy or w/e

 

Exactly, they could be hosting their own wallet on a PC that was destroyed, so I could possibly be sending bitcoin to a wallet he no longer has access to, which is why I don't refund bitcoin before speaking to the customer.

 

Why not just give him the 100m if he paid for it?

I understand that, but I've had this exact same thing happen to me in the past. The user didn't contact me for roughly 2 months afterwards. I just held his payment until he contacted me and delivered the gold since I received the payment

My intent to hold this payment until he contacts me is also mentioned in the original post.

Since gold prices/bitcoin prices fluctuate, I'd imagine gold sellers have the option to choose how they want to issue a refund or at least be able to adjust the price based on current market values.

I wouldn't refund it, that guy you dealt with pulled that double spend shit on me and hit me with it.

Do not deliver the gold to him, seize it and use it to pay back victims.

 

Yah if he's banned then I would pay back his victims, in his post he says that no evidence was ever given to support the double-spending claims though. Don't make any actions based off the word of others since his word may be just as valid.

 

At this point, I have not been contacted by the customer, nor has sufficient evidence been shown that this customer is the double-spender.

 

He's bought 100m and hasn't told you where to deliver it yet, just hold onto it until you get told where it should go.

 

This guy has been proven a scammer, the bitcoin will be going to his victims.
