Curious about pardons

In Canada even if it is your first offence you will be charged with theft under $5k for any amount under $5k. I know people who still have theft under $5k on their records for small things under $100 and it's been over 4 years since the incident. There are programs to clear the fine but it is much harder to convince a judge to allow you to do the program and if they don't believe you are sorry for your actions they won't allow you to do the program.

It is much easier to tell if someone is lying to your face than it is to tell if someone is lying over the internet.

Also why do you believe people should get a second chance? They've already proven they are a threat to the website and a potential threat if allowed back.

There are a lot more people who have scammed bigger amounts after being unbanned than there are who stayed legitimate after being unbanned.

Finn also implemented pardons because he thought people had a right to show reform and new character. Since this IS a runescape based forum after all, kids scam here when they're 13 then come back when they're 17.

 

There's only a couple of pardon types I support

- Confessing before being caught
- Banned under that act clause in the rules
- trolling bans

 

Like I said, if pardons are allowed why don't we implement a mandatory TWC until they have proven themselves? But make that TWC a lot harder to remove? 20+ vouches of large value?

They only change their behavior to benefit themselves, so they can come back to making money.


If you was to forum wide market ban them they wouldn't even try to pardon cus they'd have no more use for sythe.

 

Also, having pardoning available secures that slight possibility that one day, the user will have to pay back the person in which they scammed. Otherwise, the scammer is just going to ban evade without having to pay back any user.

Theres two types of scammers, the one who gets caught, and says he is sorry, and covers his tracks more easily, and then theres the scammer who doesn't give-a fuck and scams when they want.

TBh more effort should be put into blocking ips/ catching vaders then pardoning, and dealing with reports imho.

For scamming, i do not agree with pardons. I, myself, have been pardoned I believe twice, and banned at least 10 times. Never did I have anything to do with scamming or anything of that issue, all were Sythepolitics.

For cases in those matters and misunderstandings, I believe in and support the dispute and pardon system.

 

I beg to differ. I started using the Internet when I was 11 or something.. Possibly younger. I was very immature back then. If I found Sythe when it had only just started I'd likely have done something stupid and got myself banned.
Now, 10 years later, I have changed a hell of a lot and I know I'll never be banned now.
People do change a lot as the years pass. Personally I try not to deal with disputes as I'm strict and a lot of the time say no, even though I know he/she could have actually changed their ways.

 

Nerfed hasn't lied to me to me so do I think he deserves a fair shot yes Just like a few others, I support a vote if you recall.

As far as sabastian went same thing he came clean to me and did he do anything bad while banned?

If you wanna keep going ill throw Feren Silver, he is a friend of mine and I have never asked him for the truth. He did submit a pardon and I think he has a character change. Never once vaded not was there a scam.


Now as it comes down to it me supporting a vote doesn't mean I will vote for them it means I think they deserve a vote and more talk.

 

So what I am gathering is people think there should be pardons if it is not for scamming or if you admit to it before getting caught. Isn't black hat etc just as bad as scamming? In that sense there would be pardon's only if you admit your crime before you were caught.

Imo, people should be pardoned if they admitted the truth BEFORE they were caught, and gave the WHOLE truth; or if years have passed (2 1/2 +) where they haven't scammed again/vaded/broke any other sythe rules; and they have paid back what they have scammed.

 

It makes sense. People are saying if people have been caught for scamming they shouldn't be pardoned but I am saying black hat activities etc are just as bad as scamming. So therefore basically there shouldn't be pardon's unless you admitted what you did wrong before you were caught.

 

No, your last line didn't make sense to me, sorry. I think they should be treat the same in my opinion; black hat is just as bad as scamming etc, if not worse, but depends on the case as with pardoning them.
