COVER UP TATTOO ADVICE!

I don't know where to begin but I have a crappy ass tattoo from back when I was 16. Yes 16, which was 7 years ago. I want to get it covered up but dont want something so big that would show when I wear a t shirt. The tattoo itself is in a horrible spot on my right shoulder. I will post a pic!

I get it some people want meaning for the tattoo, but really I just want to cover it up. I've been wanting to cover it up and I do understand that cover ups must be bigger than normal.

Give me like a symbol or something I can work with please D:

My advice look for a good tattooshop near you and just tell them the story and if they can help with finding a decent cover up.
Way better

 

I tried looking for a cover up to some stupid ink I got done when i was 15, said my idea to the artist and he handed me a portfolio of artwork, found a nice piece, done it for a good price, too.

So yeah, my advice: go to a reputable tattoo artist, explain the situation, it's the artists' job, i'm sure they will have covered up plenty in the past

unfortunately not I don't, as I got it covered 5 years ago and the pics were lost with my mobile but is your ink really that bad to you? I can't read it from the pic but it seems fine to me. Anyway if you google "tattoo cover up ideas" on google images you'll find a whole bunch of before/afters that will cheer you up, horrid ink turned into masterpieces.

 

yea LOL. Its super corny. It meant something to me but holds no value anymore.

 

What type of artwork are you into? Do you have any hobbies or interests? This would help me have a better idea for some suggestions of a cover up.

 

Yeah,
I was thinking about doing something like feather themed. Since it can be dark, or forest. But im leaning towards the feather idea. I Dont want something thats so big it will be seen when i wear a t shirt.

 

In that case a feather arrangement of 3 or 4 would like nice, or if you are into native american culture perhaps a chieftain with a feather headress.

Nice man, yea in the end it's all about you. It's going to be on your body for the rest of your life, no one else's. I have a lot of tattoos so I feel ya, some you end up regretting Had 2 cover ups so far.

 

So i have decided! I'm going to do a play on icarus, with a feather and a sun underneath. OR should i do a wing and a sun? Its a small cover up.

WHat do you think i should do

 

I would definitely choose the feather over a wing to compliment the sun. Icarus has wings, so another one would clash I believe.

 

Yes I ve decided to do a single feather over my tattoo and it overlaps a half sun.

Its only been week since you were asking for suggestions and seemingly had little-to-no idea of what you wanted.

Take your current tattoo as an example of something you could regret!
-not saying its a bad idea or anything-
Make sure you are certain on your choice of tattoo before getting inked up again. I would live with it until the end of this year, and if you are still set on getting the feather tat done, go for it, knowing that you spent a month dwelling on it

 

HAHA too late, I dropped the deposit. Artist really worked with me and i really love it.

Its a feather with a sun on TOP not bottom. It somewhat makes the feather look like the cloud while the sun is above. But its actually a play on icarus.

Talk to your tattooist and come up with something meaningful otherwise you'll end up back where you started if you take random suggestions off people on the internet who don't even know you.

Plus whatever you come up with will have to be the right shape / size to cover the existing tattoo, though I suppose I don't really need to mention that.
