Converting bitcoins using google - needs a sticky.

I've had very frequent issues receiving slightly under the market value in bitcoins when selling gold to resellers, usually the amounts negligible so I just write it off as a loss. As it wouldn't be worth the hassle of trying to get the difference. Sometimes I receive slightly more, but it's rarely in my favour.

I'm putting this down to most sellers using google to convert the value. This convertor is always wrong. If you go to google now (http://www.google.co.uk/#q=usd+to+bitcoin) and type in $51.5 at the current rate it'll to 0.22 Bitcoins at the current rate, now if you change $51.5 to $53.5 it'll still show 0.22 Bitcoins. It rounds usd to 0.01 Btc.

A sticky on the marketplace stating not to use google to convert currencies to bitcoins and offering an alternative would be great. Also anyone could exploit vendors that use google to convert bitcoins by checking what specific amount in usd gives them a favourable return.

I think learning not to use rounded estimates falls in the "common sense" part of doing business.

    Using your amounts in google.

    $51.5 got me 0.2153 Bitcoin

    $53.5 got me 0.2237 Bitcoin

    Not the .22 you stated..

Yeah of course, however it's hard to convience people otherwise when they have software they trust telling them differently.

Yeah it is strange, it's simple enough to do the math just divide amount in usd with bitcoins current price. It just seems like a lot of people are having the same issue with it. Suggesting they use something else or doing the math to show them doesn't work oftern.

A sticky? Why exactly? Nobody who frequently uses bitcoins should use the google exchange for btc rates.
Use the converters on the main exchanges, such as bitstamp, btc-e, etc instead.

This is more a PSA than a suggestion, so I'm denying this.
    Thanks though!
