I'm not exactly an expert with coding or programming, but it's something I've always had an interest in. Couldn't the competition allow any language?

    Please, do this.

What exactly do you mean by this? I'm assuming whitehat and something to do with trying to hack into the VPS or something.

I tried a while back making a Steam group, so we could play games such as TF2 or other common steam games together but the idea didn't seem to be very popular at all.

I honestly think anything we can do to direct some new members to this site would be extremely beneficial. Maybe making servers on games such as TF2 or CS:GO, saying they are sponsored by Sythe.org and they can get more info on the servers at Sythe.org would help in drawing in new users, and hopefully boost the activity in the steam sections - market and discussion.

I'd love to play either TF2 or Counter-Strike with some other Sythe members. TF2 may be the better way to go considering it's a free game.

It is a good idea, but I always thought the staff hated anything related to hacking, even if it isn't blackhat or for malicious purposes. I don't think many people would have any idea where to start either :p

Theres nothing wrong with whitehat hacking. Im in the IT field myself and i personally know the benefits of it. However, i highly doubt we have enough people skilled enough on sythe to properly hold such a competition. Most of the people with ANY hacking knowledge on sythe are probably skids anyways.

    Fair enough then. :p

How does everyone enjoy the Sythe Member of the Month? Do you reckon it should stay or anything can be done to improve it?

This is why we should hold it, but make it so just using scripts won't work. Basically make it interesting/different enough so that you actually need to know what you're doing.

Not a fan of Ingame events, I dont mind a competition such as minigolf or w/e and the user is awarded with a undertitle.

But the whole user of the month is a joke imo. It is like back in high school everyone is sucking up to the higher ups so they get attention and recognition.

Any reward where a user is rewarded based on his/hers contribution to the whole, such as community posting and helping others is a gonna be a joke, I am just against it and gonna stop here before names get mentioned.

TF2 isn't really a FFA type of game just because of how points and whatnot work. I think if we could establish 3 or 4 man teams, and make a bracket type of competition would be the better route to go.

This does in a way build off of my "advertising" idea. What if we made our own Sythe TF2 servers. We would draw in users from TF2, who more then likely play other Steam games, and would hopefully have an interest in what we do here (Steam wise, building up that part of the market). If we get a decent playerbase going on it, we can advertise that we are holding a tournament, and then they can come from that server to our site in search for a team, or an opportunity to participate in the event. Hopefully, like most active users here today, they come in search of something (selling an old account, registering to play a tournament etc.) and stay for the community.

I've been trying to promote my Steam group in the SF recently, hoping I see some fresh new faces in the group soon :p.

I saw this and thought, "Oh gosh, Finn is back!"

All jokes aside, I usually like competitions, moreso tournaments... but marches and meeting off-site is always fun like when people are in IRC or tinychat especially... I hope you guys get some good ideas.

Whatever you guys go with, some people will like it =p.

Dude shut the fuck up...I nominate Sypherz

Serious though I don't think the in-game marches will ever work. We should make a user of the month more official by giving them a UT/rank or something. That'd be cool.
