Changing the Runescape Section

Hey,

So, the Runescape forum is at the point in which some sections just don't have enough activity to remain on the front page. I think that it can easily be condensed into 3 main sections. Below is my suggestion for fixing this.

What it looks like now(What is being done with each section):

-Runescape 3 General (Becomes a subsection of Runescape General)
--Runescape Mini Games & PKing (Merges into RS General)
--Runescape Classic (Merges into RS General)

-Runescape 2007 General (Becomes a subsection of RS General)

-Runescape Cheating (Nothing is done except creation of RS3 Cheating subsection - organizes it more)
--Verified Programs
--Runescape 2007 Cheating

-Runescape Free Guides (Becomes a subsection of RS General)

-Runescape Pictures & Videos (Merges with RS General)
--Runescape 3 Progress Logs (Merges with RS General)
--Runescape 2007 Pictures, Videos, & Progress Logs (Merges with RS General)

-Runescape Private Servers
--Runescape Server Development

Original Version:

-Runescape General
--RS3 General
--RS07 General
--Runescape Free Guides
--Runescape Pictures & Videos
---Progress Logs

-RS Cheating
--RS3 Cheating
--RS07 Cheating

My only problem with my suggestion is that four subsections might be a lot for Runescape General. However, I don't know what else to do about it. Please let me know what you think about my suggestion or even suggest something of your own.

Support. There is very little activity in those sections for them to be on the front page

Could be taken away and those threads incorporated into general. That would easily boost the activity in there. Plus having too many sub-sections kills off activity.

RS3/07 Cheating could arguably be combined also since they aren't really that busy either

Maybe a slight re-work for the truly dead sections to shrink things down a bit, but I think your suggestion is too far. A lot of those sections are actually pretty active.

Before I answer this, I suggest you take another look at the runescape videos section. It's not the most active section, but it gets more attention than rs07.

I feel like when you cram up stuff there is less chance to see variety of threads. When you have a variety threads to see that are being talked about there is more activity. It's easier to navigate too.

The Runescape forum is pretty small and overall activity has dropped because of the games decline and repetitive topics.

If there has to be a re-work just delete those two sections and merge those threads into other sections? I really think that smashing everything into two sections is a bad idea, and seeing as those are arguably the only unnecessary sections those are the only ones that should be removed. By the look of things it'd take a fair amount of a moderators time to move everything, but it could definitely be done.

Generally speaking I'd prefer 2-3 semi-active sections which serve their specific purpose to one single confused section, but I can see where he is coming from on this one. You could remove those sections and free up some room on the homepage without making too big of a mess. I still say leave it as is though.


edit: Sorry if this post is a little bit confused, I edited it like 5x as I changed my mind so its a little scrambled. I think the general idea still comes across however.

I am open to this change. It will cut down on the confusion of where to post since there are so many choices at the moment.

I like the idea of the name change for the Mini games section as well!

I personally think it's fine, particularly due to the new links to subsections. That way newer members can still see what's available in that subsection from the main page, and established members can still hop right into the section they're looking for.

I like the change as well. It'll just mean the main page of each section is going to be updated more frequently because of posts in any of the subsections.
