Looking at this entry; I've come to the conclusion that Graphic Design has become nothing more than cinema 4d and a few lighting effects.

Truly deciding where "horror" comes into half of these pieces of art. It's a hard theme, yes, but it's still not hard to capture horror, Text doesn't scare me much.

 

It's in the perspective of the creator you have to consider. While I do agree with you on some level, no theme is specific or absolute.

 

You're absolutely right, But when entered into a contest, especially one based upon a specific theme, you judge the entry based on the theme, then followed by creativity.

You don't score an essay by looking at the perspective of the student who wrote the essay, you look at how their perspective relates to the prompt.

In my opinion; Text itself has nothing to do with Horror; It's just a text that one said was 'scary'.

Opinions are opinions though.

Also, C4D shouldn't be permitted in SOTM. Text signatures are bland and relatively easy to make. Tags as a requirement would spice competition up and demonstrate greater skill.

 

I was thinking about this a while ago, but came to the conclusion that more than half of the competition will be gone. On this forum, text signatures are respected more than anything it seems like. You just have to overcome that, and try your best to surpass expectations.

 

Tags reign supreme I love a good tag. The occasional C4D catches my eye but it's rare.
