Captcha for Username Lookup

Please god remove this. I understand why it's there I just still don't see it as a threat, i don't think anyone will try to use it as a form of traffic overload as other methods they can use... Even if it's changed temporarily to see if it does become an issue It would make a difference.




Also I use it on every account I trade with so that their IP on sythe matches their IP on skype resolve. I also use it to check peoples vouches and when i'm hunting evaders. I know others who use it allot (lazy23) so it is a very important feature and the delay is just annoying...

 

I'd support a temporary removal with the possibility of it becoming permanent if it doesn't get abused.

 

Support the removal. Will make it easier when looking up many IP's.

 

Yes, that would help a lot. The problem that most users have is the time it takes to look up multiple IP's

 

Is it possible to loosen up the search requirements for certain usergroups (1000+ posts or donators for example.) but keep them tight for newish users?

 

Sorry what do you mean by this? All you need is a user ID and you can search any member?


Also @sythe, would help allot and i'm happy to compromise.

 

example: $5+ donators or those with over 1000 posts only have to enter the captca once every hour.

 

Wouldn't mind this suggested as a donor perk tbh however PC = should never be rewarded/get special treatment in my opinion

 

Would making it so you must be logged into sythe to use it be sufficient to get rid of the captcha?

I've been doing 50+ of these a day recently, and it really doesn't make that much difference typing in the captcha, as if you refresh it it gives you a number one most of the time, which is extremely easy.

 

By the way, if it looks like I'm abusing it, I'm not. If you look at the past few days I've made a lot of checks.
