Cannabis - Good or bad thing?

What are your opinions on smoking weed?

Should it be legalized or kept illegal?

In general I would say it's the most harmless drug out there, which makes it kinda funny how tobacco and alcohol still are legal while weed is illegal. :huh:

 

I wouldn't say it's harmless.

This drug may not have terrible side effects on you physically, but emotionally and mentally is a different story.

This drug is a gateway drug for sure, I don't care how many people say it's not. All addicts start at something and they usually started at weed and moved on their way up to meth or coke. You can't deny that, don't really see people going from nothing to meth or LSD.

However, it is a good economy booster and helps pay taxes and creates jobs.

But the outcome just isn't my style. It's too much of a gateway and will lead to more and more emotional problems like broken families and ruined friendships because weed was more important than that certain acquaintance.

No it should not be legal. People can get it anyways pretty easily.

 

I think you're kinda overreacting here. It does not affect you emotionally nor mentally if you do not smoke ridiciculous amounts in very short periods of time. :huh:

The gateway theory is a stupid theory invented by people trying to make cannabis look like a horrible drug. It's nothing in cannabis per se that would cause the user to move forward to other drugs, it's more adequate to say that the gateway theory apply on users when they are in contact with drug dealers, as a result of dealers trying to expand their market by trying to get the users to seek new highs.

So with this I basically mean that cannabis alone does not cause the user to try out other drugs. If the curiosity of experimenting is there in the first place, the user will most likely try out the worse substances anyway.

And also, I have never heard of any broken families because of cannabis. It's not even remotely comparable to drugs like heroin, cocaine and so forth, where most user end up on the street with no money or hope. A real pothead usually stops smoking when he gets older anyway, causing him to move towards a positive direction in life.

I'm saying emotionally it can mess you up because you can lose friendships over it. Fail drug tests for jobs, that leads to no employment and can effect more than just yourself.

You further increased the validity of 'cannabis' being a gateway. It opens up a new world such as the drug dealing. You come into a drug dealer or a seller via the 'cannabis'. That's the start to the harder drugs.

Well I'm glad you haven't had to see it cause I see it quite often with people I'm associated with. Lost friendships, families throwing them out of their house because of the new person they have become.

I personally don't smoke and have no problem with people smoking it. But if you're trying to deny that it doesn't effect more people than just the user, you're crazy. I'm glad it doesn't effect you, but there are million more than just you

 

Not going to vote for either one, because it's neither.

It's not really good for you unless you suffer from an illness that pot's side effects can help alleviate, for example, lack of an appetite. Although it's probably "better" for you, that is, not as bad for you, as cigarettes, if you think inhaling hot smoke is good for your body, you're an idiot.

However, I don't think pot is anywhere near as bad or evil as society wants people to think. The fact that the DEA classifies it as a level 1 drug, with heroine, is laughable.

I support the decriminalization of marijuana. I would also be okay with the legalization, mostly because I think our government would greatly benefit from increased tax revenue.

 

If weed is legalized then it won't be a gateway drug in that aspect.

Sure, I get the point about it being a problem when it comes to getting a job, or having a stable relationship with your family, but as long as the user uses the drug sporadically it won't be no problem. And to be honest, when I said harmless in my first post I talked about the mental and physical effects on the body - where it's not even comparable other drugs.

I use myself from time to time, very rarely cannabis, but I wouldn't ever say it's good, nor encouraged anybody else to try anything.

It's illegal in most places for a reason.

 

Printing money is also illegal but the FED still does it. As pointed before the stepping stone theory is also buuulshit. All you are left is air, no good arguments why it should be illegal, just air...

What do you mean by 'All you are left is air' that doesn't make sense.

 

For thoses who say that it'll lead you to harder drugs , it's false , everythings is a choice you make ... you choose to do harder drugs not the cannabis . Is it good or bad ? I'd say neither , it can be good it can be bad depends of your use . I've been a weed smoker for more than 5 years , started at 12 years old to first smoke it but didnt really liked it until i was 15 , i was living alot of hard things so it kinda help me to flee from it , since 15 years old i smoked it until 19 where i tried to stop , i stopped for a month and a half and my life really started going better , the reasons why i stopped its because i didnt even felt high anymore , i was just smoking so i could eat ... (always been a huge bong smokers) but i got back into it because i've always felt like this was MY drug. I'd say it's bad because it made me be with girls i would've never been with if i wasn't high , made me say too much ; nah it's ok you're high you won't care , made me relate too much on it , everything was concentred about it . I used to be living in Canada , moved to United States with my dad so i could flee from it , left all my friends , my ex girlfriend , everything i've loved because i felt like my life was going nowhere because of it . Made me lazy ,sick , non ambitous , not because of the drug itself , because i related too much on it , everything was based on it . That's why i can't say is a bad drug , because it depends for everyone else , if you can smoke it and live your life without depending on it , i'd say this is one of the best drug ever .


Now been another 2 months that i'Ve stopped , i know i'll get back to it espicially when i'll go back to Canada in 1 week and a half , i'm a stonehead , im going through hard times because i have to face to reality now rather than escape it , i miss being high , and even tho i have 7 grams i won'T touch it , why ? because i know i'll get back to relating on it . Like i said , it made me been with girls i would have never been with if it wasn't of that drug , girls i'd consider ¨stupid¨ ¨whore¨ but i'd stick with them just because i'd say : man you don't care you're high ... i've lost the only women i'Ve love because of it , couldn't go with her family , couldn't do anything when i couldn't get high as much as i wanted , kinda limited my life , the things i would do , went from a good soccer/hockey player to a fucking lazy ass doing nothing but fuck bitches , left school , had lot of anger issues .


If you really read this and still reading i'D say it again , it isnt good , it isnt bad , it totally depends on you , but if you're not smoking , don'T do it really , it can be awesome but it can turn you upside down . Writing this make me wanna get so high because it bring too much bad memories and i wish i could flee from them , really the drug is good to escape reality , but that's being lazy , gotta face it like a man everythings takes time but you'll get over everything .
Don't ever make it rule your life , if its already done , try to stop , your life will be better.

I would much rather smoke marijuana than drink, honestly. I've done both and I have to say that getting high doesn't make you drunk stupid.

If you study the legality of cannaboids in the United States it is all linked back to a turn of the 20th century racist notion.

 

It is right for some people, for some on the other hand, they turn into potheads dumber than Patrick fucking star.

People abuse alcohol, but does that mean it should be illegal as well? Basically ANYTHING can be abused.

Cannabis is neither good nor bad; no thing in existence is either good or bad. To say things are good, or bad is to say that they possess intrinsic value. To say cannabis is good or bad is to ignore context and circumstance.

Like with water, tell me with a straight face that water is good when a tsunami is coming. Change your mind and tell me that it is bad when you are stranded in the desert. Cannabis is no different, tell someone who is allergic to cannabis that it is good, and see how successful you are.

 

If alcohol is legalized, no reason weed shouldn't be.

 

Since I started smoking I have done it nearly everyday, its an escape and does have great medical value from what I have heard and experienced.

I live in the US and border colorado so even though its not legal where I am it is very common and not really looked down upon as much as it was years ago (which reminds me of this video explaining how it was made illegal and why the companys and government pushed so hard to make it so = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCqlW09B7PY )

Anyways I think it should become legalized because otherwise the drug kingpins control the market instead of a government regulated quality standard that would prevent people smoking LSD laced, mold infected, shit quality weed, and would help limit the cannabis being sold to underage people. Also the hemp industry was useful in making multiple products and is slowly coming back since the legalization.
