Sure you can. Many different types of infection, from many different types of bacteria, can be cured with a single antibiotic. And likewise, if a company found a chemical or manufactured a nano-technology which could target and destroy only mutated cells, then a single cure (or single group of cures) for cancer would indeed exist.

They may have the cure , they may not . What they don't have for sure is the technology , just because you have the answer doesn't mean you have the needed equipment . You say 2 - 3 years and they will have the cure ? No , they wont . They won't have what it takes for many more years , possibly the next generation . I'm sure the government keeps these things from us , but whats the point of wondering . We spend all of our lives concerned , concerned about what the future holds for us . We shouldn't be worried about what is going to come , we need to worry about what is happening now . Yes , they might have the cure to every cancer possible in a couple of years , then what ? I can tell you , we will never have all of the answer's . Sure , we could cure one , but what about the others , what about the other types of cancers that are developing , when will we have the answer to those ? We wont . We will never beat cancer , its one war we can never win .

Wrong . Lack of technology to perform these experiments.

One reason I pray that we will not cure cancer, HIV/AIDS, or even harlequin ichthyosis is the chance of "super bugs" coming into this world. The worst threat to humans are ourselves. I suppose what Sythe said would be the best thing. Nanotechnology, creating microscopic robots that cruise around inside your body and destroy foreign materials (viruses, pollen etc.)

It is nearly impossible. Although their is always a way, one day we shall find it. We thought many things were impossible but we achieved them. I see this happening yet again.

Sorry for my english, it really sucks when you can't say what you think.
I really didn't think about the bird flu, just the ordinary one.
I ment to say that it is possible there will be a cure for cancer over a few hundred of years. And I was actually replying to the OP. My opinion is that I don't think the government is hiding the cure for cancer from us, simply because I think there isn't a cure for it yet.

There is a cure for the minor cancers, and there's treatment for the
more dangerous kinds of cancers, there is no cure in which you mean
cure as a vaccine? No there is no vaccine for cancer found yet.

The binding molecules still need to be discovered for the various sorts of cancer. You're right though, this is a kind of treatment which could potentially treat a wide range of cancers. I was just trying to expose OP's ignorance, not be rigorous in what I was saying :p

Cancer - Cure Or No Cure?

I suppose that in the next few upcoming years we will be able to fix our selves through playing with or genetic information. Just DL your DNA and make a little edit where the disease in mitosis is occurring and there you go. I bet this will happen about the same time we start creating fully synthetic organisms and creating super humans. This approach could be considered a single cure, no>

To Everyone Who has added a Contribution to this thread:
Thanks for your time, i have skim-read all your posts, and it is nice to understand what people think about Cancer.

But, a question to most is:
I don't see finding a cure to cancer will make any money whatsoever, even trying to find a cure has cost so much already, millions being Placed into charity's like "Cancer Research". And then, when they find a way That can remove a cancer. They will have to reproduce it, which will most likely Cost hundreds of millions. I wouldn't see how The government would Pay alot of money to a man who found the cure, they would Blackmail etc, Or pay him a fixed sum.

interesting Point, id never thought of Nano-technology, even though its an obvious way of removing, i know they are used to Remove Viruses now. so in theory it is possible for them to be able to find the mutated Cells and remove via the technology they have.

Personally, I hope there is a cure to cancer, whether the governments have already found it is pure speculation. You do have a valid point about the fact that if the cure were to be introduced the global population would sky-rocket and national infrastructues would come under huge strain considering Cancer is one of the worlds largest causes of death.

I also have heard that the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) in Geneva, once fully tested and had the results collected from it could provide information that could dramatically expand our understanding of sub-atomic and atomic structures. This inturn could help towards understanding the complicated and unpredictableness of cancer cells.

I imagine that lots is being done to tackle this issue and hopefully in the near future there will be a cure.

    :)

Cancer - Cure Or No Cure?

idk, I would guess there is cure of lots of diseases but there is too much money being profited from forcing people to pay expensive hosptial visits and take medicine everyday for the rest of their lives. I dont think they have a cure for every type of cancer but I think they do for the more common ones.

There could be a cure but if they release it, a cure could cause another virus, example : I Am Legend (thats over exaggerated) but that could happen lol.

There is no modern method in place of dealing with cancers, currently its frying them with X-rays, Or cutting them off. They are currently working on better methods that I have heard of including some sort of nanobead that gets inside a cancer and heats up when a light is shined on it (infrared).
