Can anyone elaborate?

The intent of this rule (original post here) was mainly to set the "default" level of requirements around the forums at "you don't need pictures of whatever you're selling in order to sell it here," kind of like Craigslist or any number of online forums. I made and accepted that suggestions thread as a log of when we made this change as well as to notify the community about it. In retrospect, making a super quick thread was probably not the brightest idea because we didn't address questions like the ones you guys are posing.

Certain sections (accounts, infernals, fire capes, etc.) will keep their picture proof rules for now, and their stickies should all still have the picture proof requirement rules in place. Gift cards notably no longer has this rule in place though.

Moving forward, we are hoping to find a way to relax the rule broadly but need some time to think about how to do so, especially in the accounts sections. I don't think we will ever remove the requirements for services threads (infernals, fire capes, etc.) so know that proof in those sections will remain for the foreseeable future.

If it's an "accounts" forum (LoL accounts, OW accounts, RS accounts, Valorant accounts, etc.) it should have a picture proof requirement in place

 

Then you don't need a picture of it unless the forum still has a sticky saying you do!

The hope is that, even though you don't NEED a picture of what you're selling, people will realize that they're not going to get much business without posting a picture. It's way more efficient to post a picture in your OP than send it to 50 different people who pm you asking for it. But if people don't want to post it in their OP for whatever reason that's their call.

Ideally we would have templates pre-populated whenever you make a new thread in certain forums (accounts, report a scammer, etc.) but that's a TBD right now.

 

I'm not exactly sure what you're suggesting, but we anticipate having auto-populated forms appear when you try to create a new thread in the new XenForo update. This should be super useful in market forums (no more "please read the stickies and post the required pictures"-type posts!) and report forums especially.

For what it's worth, going back to the OP of this thread, there have been virtually no issues with removing the picture requirements forum-wide.
