Buying a used car next week!

It's illegal to reset your mileage on a car.

 

Sure it's illegal to roll back the odometer. However, it's not illegal to advertise "20,000 miles [on the engine]", when the car has actually seen 150,000+ miles. If someone drops in a new motor, it's perfectly legal for them to say "this car only has 20K miles!" meaning the engine only.

 

Who wouldn't look at the ODO when they go look at a car...?

You'd be surprised. My dad sold cars for 20 years at Five-Star, he has loads of stories about the shadiness of even professional car salesmen and the stupidity and gullability of car buyers

still no man :/ i am going to post a pic on sythe when i do but theres so many options my dad said wait a month and lets pick out 15 cars and check them out then we'll bring the list down to 3 eventually well find it. I am going to search until early june

 

There are a certain set of guidelines which I think you should keep in mind while buying anything used and these are-
Get detailed knowledge about condition of vehicle by an expert technician
Check previous maintenance records and manufacturing year of the vehicle.
Compare quality and price with other sources.
Secondly I have not dealt with the folks but heard of them as being quite a good source of used cars.

I would recommend taking one of your friends that might have more knowledge in cars. If you can find a cheap mechanic that will come and advise you on the car you're viewing then that may also be helpful.
