Buy Pinned Threads

Hello lads,

So I noticed how advertisements were being sold on Sythe HOWEVER what I had not noticed is the use of pinned threads being sold on Sythe as a whole.

Due to the fact that advertisements can be very expensive, pinned threads would not be expensive. It would allow people with budgets of around $30-40 to be able to advertise there in a certain section.

In my opinion I feel that a lot of gold sellers would personally favour these pinned threads. It would help them as they would not need to bump every 8 hours and more people would click these threads.

I do understand that this may make more pinned threads and pinned threads should only be for important topics however this can be counteracted by placing the most crucial pinned threads at the top of the forums and the gold selling sites below. This would not affect important threads as most people are more likely to read the ones at the top rather than the middle/bottom.

It would still remain eye catching as people looking to buy gold are most likely to look at the first page rather than scrolling to the 2nd and 3rd pages.

I would like to hear some gold sellers and other individuals views on this as I have noticed it pretty much elsewhere other than Sythe.

It could confuse people with the rules of sections and other important stickies.

There are already options for people with budgets of 30-40, ranging from buying signature space or other methods.

 

Signature space is only off one individual person and so is purchasing user title.

Sticky/pinned threads will allow users to take up a whole section. Say for example a Runescape Gold Site (for this sake I will use one of the most notorious ones known as RSGoldFund). They will be able to purchase stickys/pinned threads in the Buy Runescape Gold section and people will be more likely to buy RSGP off RSGoldFund rather than a competitor.

 

I'm not a fan of this. I've seen it on other forums and it makes them look a mess imo. There's a good balance at the minute - a few advertising spots, as well as the possibility to hire sig/ut space and I wouldn't want to see that added to and cluttered. No support here.

Richard is not stupid. If he had wanted to implement this he would have already done so.


Maybe the cdt would be interested in offering this in exchange for hosting events but even then itd require richards approval

 

Well I mean I wasn't sure if anyone else had suggested it or if it was on Richard's list of idea's. This may have not been implemented due to the time not being found to do this.
