Building Style MMORPGs?

So... I used to avoid these kind of games, but my wife got me interested in "Social Empires" on facebook. Now I wanna play more. Maybe something with more of a viking feel?

If you don't know what social empires is, you probably don't know wtf I mean by "Building Style MMORPG".

What I mean is, where you build a civilization. Starting with just a "town hall" or something similar. You then progress to build things like gold mines to make money, sawmills for wood resources as well as things like "barracks" or "training grounds" to add soldier characters to your civilization to defend as well as attack other players' civilizations and so on.

I thought Jagex had a similar style game, but when I tried to find it on the funorb website I can't.


Preferences:
Viking themed (I would really like to build a viking civilization!)
Quick paced (no hugely insane waiting times for buildings)
PVP (not required but its a plus)

 

They have Civilization V, but it's not an MMO.

 

If I'm correct, I think the "civilization" game series is modern, with tanks, guns, etc. I'm looking more for a fantasy style thing, swordsman, dragons, knights, vikings, etc etc.

I don't know about civ V tho, i've only ever seen the first game I think

 

You've probably heard of it, An iPhone game called "Clash Of Clans" pretty fun game

I think the closest you'll get to that is either Lord of the rings Battle For middle earth 2 or Age of Empires III.

There fun as hell and there for the computer. You could download them for free just look up torrents and tutorials on jewtube.

 

I'll give em a look Him! Thanks a lot I just found another Facebook one on google called "Vikings of Thule" but when I go to the app page on fb it just stays a blank white screen. Anyone know if maybe its no longer around?

You could ally with other towns and attack but it sucks cause it takes like 10 mins for things to build and its not something you could play consistent like you could log on couple times a day to see how your civilization is doing. It sucks cause if someone attacks you though, you lose men and defenses and you could be at work and your village is getting wrecked.

 

yeah, that doesn't sount like something I'd wanna play

 

What about the game Castle Strike?

Dude i literally spent hours making custom skirmishes and stuff. The game is badass

 

Age of Empires III is mad fun, but there isn't much of an online presence anymore since the game is dated now.

 

Sounds like you're looking for an RTS (real time strategy) game, more than an MMORPG. There's tons out there, as mentioned earlier in this thread, AOE is a classic.
