    Bro splits vs PPPL?

Ive thought about it since ive just recently learned about the concept of both. I was a highschool athlete and my coach taught me indiretly PPPL, so i've always done bis backs, tris chest, legs, repeat, with a day rest, however bro splits sound interesting. thoughts?

PPL split is better due to higher frequency. There's a lot of info on this out there, and whilst some might prefer brosplit (everyone's built different); the general consensus is PPL > brosplit. Most people stick with brosplit since it's the most common/well-known.

Agree with Pakora on this one. You will hit each muscle group more often doing PPL which is better for growth.

you don't have to do it everyday, you will however get in more volume with full-body than with brosplits or push pull legs or whatever.

can you even get good gains by hitting fullbody even 3 times a week? I mean that would have to be at least like 3-4 hour gym sessions, no?

of course, consistency + good volume is better for your muscles with adequate rest, and no, you would do relatively hard compound exercises that would last for around 1 hour. i can imagine it taking longer if you were to isolate every muscle group which isn't too bad of an idea if you are having imbalances but usually not every muscle group needs to be isolated.

Full body is good for the first few months to get into lifting for beginner gains. I believe its best with an 80% RPE effort level. Going to failure for full body isn't recommended if you're in the gym several times a week

In my opinion, there is no best workout split. It’s best to change it overtime and experiment to see how your body reacts. You shouldn’t be doing crazy amounts of volume on PPL to avoid overtraining since you’ll be hitting each twice a week. The key is not to feel fatigued mentally and physically throughout the week. Listen to your body. You don’t want too much of a good thing. When you overdo your workouts you’re doing more harm than good. Keep it simple. You don’t want to be in the gym lifting for hours.

I do PPL. When I skip the gym for months I start back with full body for a few weeks then transition to PPL.
