Boy Scouts and Gays

I don't see why this is an issue, unless they are trying to be a cult. I mean honestly lets be honest on this, the Military has a don't ask don't tell policy. I'm pretty sure if some gay dude wants to join they will.

 

Don't ask don't tell was actually repealed two years ago as it was a discriminatory policy. Openly gay people now serve in the military just fine, and it hasn't had any negative effects. Why would people think that it's going to effect the boy scouts when it doesn't effect the military?

 

I don't see what difference it makes in other scouts' lives. I have a few gay friends, and I don't really care. I'm personally glad they are taking this issue by the horns and may possibly turn this whole thing around.

 

Well that's what I mean I don't see how theres really gonna be a negative effect.

 

They allow girls in to the Scouts. If they can bend their rules to that, why should gays be any different?

 

So your argument is only fear of confrontation? Like it or not, most teens who commit sexual offenses with their own gender are not openly gay, this policy doesn't help that.

 

They allow female leaders since they're usually one of the scouts parents..

 

I was talking about actual "Scouts", not leaders.

 

I don't think that people should be discriminated against for their sexual orientation. If they aren't hurting anybody, let them be.

 

Im not gay or anything, but by all means Im definitely not homophobic. Boy scouts should be open to any young guy, regardless of their sexual orientation. Sounds pretty discriminatory.

 

Gay boys need to go to girl scouts. Tell the girls "Don't Worry, He's gay"

In the US? Never, although individual troops are free to let in whoever they want, but it's never official.. In the UK? Since 1991.

As a 8-12 y/o kids scout leader (from Canada), and male bi-sexual, I see absolutely nothing wrong with being gay and being a scout leader. Even if I love the kids (and others adults too) We would never molest any kids, that doesn'T make us pedophile.. And for me, it feel unfair to be judge by some archaic standards about homosexuality...
