People, by taking religion out of the picture for a second, want to believe that the world was somehow created so they needed a good "story" plausible enough to make sence of it all.

I believe the big bang theory isn't real, but that is my opinion anyway

nathan if you rewrite what you said, you contradict yourself,
People, by taking science out of the picture for a second, want to believe that the world revolves arround a "story" (the bible) plausible enough to make sence of it all.

edit: oh and therefore you are a faggot

Honestly, do you have any level of education at all? That is the most unreasonable response i have read so far. You're confusing too many concepts together for anyone to derive a logical argument from your statement. Not only that, but you really don't have any evidence to back up your claims.

Back on topic, I do believe in the big bang theory, but then again, as stated before, it's difficult to grasp how that infinitely dense particle was created initially.

From what i understand, a genetic mutation in the jaw muscle of apes caused the muscles to become weaker, and gave room for the skull (and therefore the brain) to grow. This was basically the first step in many which contributed to produce modern man. Would you be able to provide any logical counterargument against this?

I believe the Big Bang is a myth. A big bang can't just happen and BOOM theres the universe. That is unusually unintellgent to think so don't you think?

Just thought I'd point out how wrong this guy this in several of his descriptions.

    First up: Christians.
For some reason, a written text becomes unreliable because it is old. So, in 1000 years, The Origin of the Species will be considered unreliable? Seriously, the age of a written source means nothing as long as the content can be verified as original. Very few Christians 'refuse to believe scientific teachings' but believe that the whole truth is not known.

    Next up: Muslims.
Again, the 'old book' argument isn't really valid. I'm not sure about the 'scientific teachings' argument, as I haven't talked to many Muslims about the matter. Allah is NOT a hate-filled God in Islam. A few misguided 'extremists' give that impression, though.

    Next up: Jews.
Basically, Jews believe half of what Christians and Muslims believe (the Old Testament). They agree with Christians and Jews on matters of creation, etc. Their accounts are all written by the same people.

    Next up: Buddhists.
Buddha was never originally a god. He gained that status gradually over many hundreds of years. Originally, he was seen as a wise teacher. Nowadays, he is worshipped.

    Next up: Catholics
Catholics are basically the same as the 'Christians' described above but also believe the tradition of the Catholic church. Many of these traditions contradict the Bible.

Just thought I'd clear those up.

Sorry to interrupt you, the logic behind bigbang is that even "the time" has started there, so the word "before" is not even applicable.

I hoped this is intended to be a pure cartesian scientific thread , and you killed all my hopes, now my hope is not to turn it into a total xenophobe godwars one !

Science doesn't work with the word "belief", it works with "you understand" (ie what has been said to you, what you have read goes along what you know already starting from simple axiomas that goes with your logic , exemple if you hit your finger with a hammer you expect to have a painful finger), or "you do not understand" (lacking glue for that theory to stick in what you built so far).

Is it necessary to prove every theory ? is it necessary to feed up these people err ... scientists to show us that the universe has started from nothing ? will you pay for that ? do you think that knowing the origin of the universe will help our children to live better ? these are the questions i'm asking myself.

I do not believe in the big bang. I believe everything has always been as it is since we can not think anywhere past that.

The Origin of Species is scientifically-empirically accepted and will always be. The Bible was never scientifically-empirically accepted and will never be, because we know it contradicts itself, historically documented facts and well-established scientific theories such as evolution. Can you honestly deny that the people who wrote the Bible and the Quran weren't primitive men with primitive minds?

Allah does encourage murder on all non-muslims, claiming him not be a hateful god is pretty ignorant. Look up Fitna on Youtube.

Personal, WHAT THE FUCK WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT ISLAM?! You don't even have the time to read it. You can't just say the world was made from protons and what not, it just doesn't come about itself. God wants everyone to worship him and follow Islam, not to kill others you idiot. Don't discriminate a religion if you have no idea about it. Cockhead.

The Big Bang - It makes sense does it not? and although it doesn't tick all the boxes it ticks more then any other theory, i don't think scientist, mainly physicists will ever truly answer the question of how the universe was created. If we go by newtons law every action has an equal and opposite reaction, well the "re-action" from the big bang in theory is the universe expanding for the past millions of years, so therefore the first "action" to cause this reaction must be MASSIVE! that's why i am lead to believe maybe the big bang didn't occur in the one trillionth of a second as scientist speculate. Could maybe the big bang be a build up of millions of years of energy conservation.... it just make you think. go back to when there was nothing, literally nothing, no light, sound, no organisms... it make u tingle to think what it would be like the emptiness

    Billions of years

Also, that's not related to the Big Bang theory.

    I concur with Sythe.

I honestly lold. This is what you get on a rs cheating site...13 yr olds.

Anyhow, I suppose it be more inteligent to think that a mythical man in the sky said BOOM and everything was as it is. Please do some sort of research on the subject so you can atleast have a mildly admirable counter argument.
