Auto Bumping

I don't think 8 hours would be effective enough imho. I was leaning more towards x2 a day for the Auto-bumper, unless your online to bump between them those time frames. Simply no need for anybody post to be bumped by itself more then twice a day unless your online. I want to see the market more personal, and user-friendly again.

 

I can't think of a single argument in favour of autobumpers.

Disallowing autobumpers reduces the noise and allows for faster experiences for customers.

So.

One thing that has been said several times is that it would be unfair to the people who donated/paid for the ability to auto bump.

First off, how is this fair to the people who dont autobump but still paid for donor rank for other trust based reasons. Just because somebody donates $300 doesnt mean they have the capabilities to autobump or the budget to buy one. Maybe they only want to bump when they actually have staff and inventory available instead of as yellow hat said funnel people into other discords and websites.

Second off. You seem to have alot of donor ranks who have the capability or close to the capability to autobump requesting it be removed. So you are already in a position where many donors are unhappy with what they paid for and that they are at an unfair advantage because of it. Its a lose lose situation but one is clearly worse for both the website and community. Ive compiled a list below of people who would like auto-bumping removed based on this thread alone and their donor amount. I did not bother to go through other older and denied suggestions but I would be happy to do so.

You have $4,105 worth of donor ranks on this thread alone. I assume more on the other denied suggestions threads. These users have the direct ability to autobump asking for its complete removal
Another 3x $200 donors ($600 total) who can almost autobump but also want it removed
And a further $2007 single donor Bert who also thinks there should at least be increased penalties for those who are unnecesarily spamming.


Another argument that ive seen is that it wouldn't be hard to get your workers to just bump for you. That statement in and and of itself indicates you have staff available to handle customers. The main complaint being put forth is that too many users are abusing auto bumpers and posting when they literally have no staff available and/or no inventory. If a member of your staff has to bump for you and you STILL fail to have inventory or respond to customers in appropriate time then we have another problem to deal with and its not autobumping. Furthermore it also requires you actually having your staff know what Sythe is which hopefully would increase website traffic and users.

Sythe itself does not offer a autobump feature. I feel as though this is a failure on the website and by doing so Sythe has created a situation where only some of their donor ranks can effectively take advantage of perks provided. If Sythe is going to offer auto-bump privelages they should provide the software to do so for free, or should implement it into the website for all to use easily. Failing to do so is what is causing the current issues being presented.

It's also bittersweet that the majority of people who seem to use the Auto-Bumper aren't active enough on the Actual Site to provide defensive input. I'm all for Discord use, but simply put if your not Active or Available you shouldn't be using the AutoBumper as another means of Advertisement for your Discord/Post-Count as mentioned before. Auto-bumper as a whole at this point is just basically being abused as Robotic-Middleman deterring you away from the site. Surely not the Original purpose the Perk was intended for, but most certainly seems to be used for.

A healthy community helps drive the marketplace. A marketplace without a community is kind of dead and if its not dead its extremely fragile since the community makes up for faults. Thats kind of where Sythe is now. Those users come and see a whole bunch of spam to join discord server X or visit my site Z. Spam bots bumping threads to places that have no active staff, or prices are incorrect. Encourage bot users, get bot users. Garbage in, garbage out. Im surprised Richard doesnt take a more hard-line stance on this because all these redirections to different communities probably hurt how much he can charge for advertising. All these thriving discord servers could be run via Sythe threads with proper staff, where the banner advertisements would be more seen.

 

Personally I think the way forward is to just follow up on the bogus bumping & clearly defining it.

Clear definitions needed:

1: how long does support need to be around after a bump?
2: what is a reasonable response time in that time frame?
3: what if your product sells out or stock fills during the time frame stated in (1)
4: clear strike system based on not following above mentioned definitions


EDIT: just adding my personal opinion here:

1: 30 minutes seems reasonable
2: 15-20 minutes
3: Should be considered as non relevant. "proof of transaction" may be asked if a pattern forms.
4:

1st strike - warning
2nd strike - lock thread 24h
3rd strike - lock thread 72h
4th strike - lock thread 7 days
5th strike - lock thread 30 days
6th strike - lock thread 3 months

these strikes should expire, suggested ~ 3-6 months as a "cooldown period"

 

Autobumping should be a site feature that bumps up the thread without the need to post. Completely devalues post count and creates 100 of pages of just bumped posts. Waste of space.

 

A lot of users auto bumping posts in account sections, with no accounts available in their discords. This is on the fact they are hoping to use the account sale section on sythe as a service ordering thread. Auto bumping in sections where you don't have a product available should be infracted.

 

Please get rid of auto-bumping.

The amount of people who have threads being auto-bumped, only for you to contact them regarding what was on their thread and them not be available is ridiculous.

This is even more of a problem with ones not related to gold sales. The majority of the time I contact someone from Sythe to do business off their auto-bumped thread for something not relating to gold, one of 2 things happen

1. They tell me they aren't even conducting that business right now
2. They tell me I need to wait for the correct worker/manager to be online to handle it, I wait 3 days and no one gets back to me regarding it

If people want to conduct business here without an auto-bumper you are at a huge disadvantage, not to mention I wouldn't be surprised if people frequently gave up after contacting multiple vendors who were using an auto-bumper just to not get a response. All in all it's horrible for the community.

Is this really enforced though? I think most of the time they just wont respond to your inquiry and it leaves a lot of ambiguity about whether or not they are breaking the rule.

Respectfully, I could be wrong, but I don't see the current auto-bumping "rule" being policed in any significant way. It seems to be a *feel good* rule to say "hey - we have something in place," but in reality is worthless.

Can any intel be provided on how many users have been infracted in the last 6 months for being caught auto-bumping without being available? I bet its slim-to-none.

 

Auto-Bumper is ok, but make a new rule against bumping threads when you are offline or when you have no stock.

The Overwhelm sad feeling I get when I bump my threads and they get buried alive within 5 minutes of bumping.

Had to start vulture the sub-forums waiting for the right tming to bump.
