    Slight change in SOTM points

The current way points are being handled is:

While the points not being transferable is fine, I think the way points are being disregarded after a year isnt benificial for the activity of SOTM from the 7th to the 12th month. People could think: "Well, not a high change for me to get the 6 points needed for a minirank of my choice anymore. Not going to bother". The closer to the end of the year the less people would enter as it is no use unless you are still able to rack up enough points.

My suggestion is to not make a year that has effect over everyone. Make a year that starts the count for individual members at the time they entered in the first SOTM. So if I were to join today, my year would start 08-05-2017 and would expire at 08-05-2018. This would give more people a reason to join in on a SOTM whenever they want and the point system then gives them insentive to keep entering for at least another 6 months.

Just to give some back-up proof of SOTM declining as the year progresses (based on views and replies)

As you can see the numbers were doing fine up untill #7. I assume people went for 6 points in the first half of the year, with some people missing 1 month, and after they managed to get the prize they skipped out on the second half of the year. Of course there are other factors (prizes, time of the year, other events which collaborate with the SOTM), but I think changing the year from a collective to an individual time might change the SOTM for the better. Besides, I dont think it is that hard to document and it isnt that drastic a change in my opinion.

    Slight change in SOTM points

The real issue with Sotm /Mgc is that it seems CDT does not care about it. Hence why @Matt still runs it.

I don't think it has to do with people aiming for 6 points and that's it. Or that it runs on a Sotm yearly record.

There are a mulitude of causations...(from what I see) it's the failing input from cdt, the lack of advertising of the event... (I used to adv the event) you can win a funrank from it so why wouldn't anyone want to try? People are busy irl, exam period etc.

I guess nobody followed through with the idea Matt and I spoke about when I was in cdt. Multiple feathers minirank can win something else like a special sotm mini based upon the amount of wins.

The fact that there isn't a cash prize, too much effort to put in time to always have the same art win again and again. Always seeing the same art.Etc

Collaborations could of happened with other forums in a way that could help community interaction between two, that never happened either.

Anyways I don't see much of a point in having someone participate in the last one and then transferring points on to the next year. It is better to start everyone at a clean slate.

If you want sotm changes it should be something of major impact, cash prizes etc.

I like mgc, but occasionally I don't have time to enter or I forget, or I don't know what to enter based on the theme etc has nothing to do with points for me.

    Slight change in SOTM points

Not exactly what I am suggesting. With my suggestion I hope to achieve that there is no "next year". There would just be a continous stream of ongoing SOTM's where people could join in whenever and still have a shot at prizes because the points wouldnt expire until one year after they first joined with their first submittion.

Not a big change (imo) but can make a change in activity for the SOTM's. The only problem would be the Competition Winner funrank. This could be seperated from the point rewards however and would abide by a schedule for everyone (like it is now).
