Association with people...

Association with certain people has become all to common for ban reasons now a days. To be completely honest, this reason is complete bullshit. So called associations with people mean absolutely nothing. They do not define character. They do not dictate actions. They do nothing that makes a person deserve a ban. This ban reason, in my personal opinion, is a way for high power staff members to ban those who annoy them and get away with it. This practice needs to stop for the good of the community.

 

I've been reading about Draucia & Finn's incident and i think it's complete bull-shit that he was banned for something as stupid as that.

My friend who refered me to this site was telling me how he was banned for just talking to someone on msn that he did not go out of his way to talk to + a smooth trade happened and he was banned for assocaition or something because the noob that added him prevouisly scammed someone somehow makes the random people he adds scammers ?

 

I agree that people should not be judged by the people they are associated with. Just because some one was or is friends with some one who has committed acts that are against sythe rules, that does not make it okay to label them based on their friends. But if there is proof they took part in these malicious activities and or mean harm to sythe they should be dealt with. As to the dispute with Finn in draucia I have no opinion as I do not know the full story and I suspect Mr. B does not either.

 

They do, to an extent. In the same manner, they only contribute to bans to a certain degree.

 

They seem to make the difference between a ban or nothing at all and thats a massive degree. They shouldn't effect bans at all.

 

I like Finn as a friend, but nothing more theirs so much skepticism around this kid and previous actions on Sythe that makes me wonder how he is even a Admin at all? Anyway my personal thoughts on this matter are some people just abuse there authority THAT IVE SEEN. With all positions people use there power to there advantage OBVIOUSLY....I SUPPORT!

The above statement is going to serve as a safeguard for any involved staff personnel. I'm sorry SuF, association is regarded as an unconscionable act to Finn and other staff members. I don't think we could really do anything in this case.

 

If you have a problem with the way Sythe has said this site be run, do us all a favour and leave. You never have any good feedback to express and we're all sick of you moaning like an old grandmother.

 

My feedback for the site is good and you refuse to listen. Unless carefully worded, many feedback threads are locked saying it is none of our business, etc. The staff is a group of mostly elitist assholes who do not give half a shit what the users have to say. They are right and we are wrong, and that is wrong. This whole, if you do not like it, leave is compete bullshit. The site was NEVER like this before. We are trying to change it in a way so that it becomes better, back to its prime. The staff refuse to even consider what the users have to say, and continue to drag the site down.

This is your examination to why Draucia. He was not banned for leaking obviously because he stepped forward and the staff decided to not ban him. Drama whoring is not a bannable offense in anyway, nor do I believe he has done anymore than others who are not banned. Association with Syed is completely bullshit. It means nothing. So, that only leaves personal dislike as a ban reason, which also, is complete bullshit.

 

Why does Syed have such a large bearing on the site? Why do you allow him to hold this site to ransom. He could act all friendly to any member on this site and frame him for associating with him. Syed should have no influence on this site, and in the same sense that he's a hacker, he's also a pretty cool guy to talk to.

 

I think finn is rude, deceiving, and when he cant get his way, he bends rules or blows thing out of proportion to get away with things like draucia ban. Banning Draucia?
Finn you have scammed in the past. Done many things and been pardoned. But draucia annoys you and you ban him? Your a disgusting person, morally.

Association should never be used as a sole reason to ban somebody. However, in certain situations, people's association does demonstrate their character.

For example, a user that associates with phishers / crackers are highly likely to be involved in similar activities. Someone associating with a known scammer (Sigex for example), is much more likely to be involved in a scam.

Take a look at real life situations. A person who hangs out with criminals is very likely to commit a crime. If you saw an acquaintance hanging out with a group of drug dealers, you'd probably draw certain conclusions about him. The same goes for Sythe, we take associations into account, but we will not ban users based purely on them (unless it's a very specific situation).

I knew this would come up, as I knew it was the staffs position already. The people you talk to help shape your character, not define it. The more you trust them, the more bad things they do, the more you like them, etc, the more effect they have on your character. Online relationships rarely have enough of these characteristics for someones own character to change. Hanging out with a phisher MAY influence your character in a bad way. If it is affected, you MAY decide to phish. If you decide to phish, you MAY decide you like it greatly and keep doing it. Thats a lot of mays.

The bottom line is, this site is full of teenagers. Teenagers hang out with the wrong people all the time. They make stupid decisions that they greatly regret. Thats just how it is. Making some bad decisions does NOT mean that you have a bad character, especially as a teenager. Based on all of this, association bans are completely ridiculous.

On a side note, not banning people for offsite offenses would make this ban reason not applicable anymore, since bad associations are basically always offsite.
