Are you materialistic?

I feel like society today in general is materialistic. If you aren't wearing $200 jeans to Walmart you will be judged.

It's all about the mind. We live in a subject-object relationship with the world. We see ourself as the subject of experience and the things that are in your consciousness are objects. What is totally wrong. All is subject. There is no object. And that's why we want to buy nice things to become one with it. But all we have to do is remove the subject. Remove the "I". You are not the body nor the mind. You are pure awareness/consciousness shining brighter then the brightest nights. Undestuctable.

 

I wouldn't consider myself materialistic, but i do like to splurge on stuff occasionally (on things such as for my pc, home, car, etc). Don't really care for name branded clothing or bags or anything like that though. I try my best to just spend on necessities

 

Unfortunately, yes. However, my bank account does not agree with my sense of style.

 

I am not materialistic i dont care about name brands. I wear the same thing to university everyday like spongebob.

 

Yeah I love stuff in the way that they make my life more enjoyable and convenient. Driving a Tesla is much simpler than a 1970 truck held together by rust.

 

I've always said I'd only ever spend a lot of money on a) a nice watch, or b) a good guitar, as they're probably the only 2 categories in my life where price does correlate with quality and I can actually appreciate the higher-tier choice. I'm lucky that, in terms of stuff like clothing, I don't have particularly expensive tastes to begin with; most brands I like are relatively cheap and I also find a lot of high-end fashion pretty ugly if I'm honest.

 

I guess I am, because I wear brands I like and sometimes they happen to be the more expensive ones. I don't go out of my way to buy things because they are more expensive, but if I see a sweater I like that happens to be $150, I'll do it.

 

not really , but i think most people dont even save there money and live paycheck to paycheck there to busy owning a car that cost half there house value

 

I make really great money, and like some people here... while I do not impulse buy, I purchase things I really want that have long lasting value. Even to this day I still have my iPhone 6. I plenty of shoes that I have never worn but once or twice that I plan to donate to relief societies, communities, etc... This year I'm making it a year to be honest with myself, especially when it comes to clothes, shoes and things of that nature; to get rid of what I never wear.

Some things are an exception for me. I have a couple of watches I hardly wear unless I go out which can even be rare, but I like having them for whenever I do go out. I drive a 2015 Chevy Malibu that is paid off and in the near future I'd like to purchase a second vehicle.

I guess all in all I'm in between, but on top of making good income, I also budget myself accordingly. In the last 5 years I have bought anything that broke my bank. For example, I saved up for 1.5 years for a vehicle that I could have broke my bank and bought in 6 months. I like always having the feeling of being financially secure, but I can be an impatient when it comes to things I really want. Discipline sucks.

Sometimes yes as Ivve grown older I've got less materilaistic I generally do like to have latest technological items not mostly to show of but mostly enjoy.

I wear $5 black T-shirts, my black suite was purchased at a thrift store (needed for work), I don't have many items or buy any
new items. My personal belongings would all fit in the back of a pick up truck.

I'm also poor.

I have expensive tastes but I don't think I'm remotely materialistic. I don't think @Returned has ever been to a Walmart though.

 

I think to a degree I am. Just with clothes.

 

Only materialistic when it comes to my Subaru lol.
