    Are Video games Art ?

This has been a long debate whether or not video games should be considered art or not . I think they should because they are a way of expressing peoples thoughts by interacting and because at this day and age their visually amazing . I would like to read other peoples thoughts about this so please post your thoughts on this .

No, they shouldn't. Games are based off of thoughts, sort of like drawings, so I understand your point. But, monopoly, risk, capture-the-flag, tag...All those are also based off of thoughts, and where video games actually came from (to play those games at home, sitting '-.-). But are those considered art? No. Some are sports, some are other things.

My conclusion: Art is to be marvelled, to be thought of and looked at. Not to be used or considered a form of entertainement.
So no, video games aren't and never will be art.

Art is whatever you make of it. If I got mad and stab a canvas and threw red paint at it is it consider more of art then a game which people spent 2 years trying to make the colors and texture correct. I wouldn't I wouldn't marvel at either, but the idea isn't stupid...

    If that's art, then definitely.
And bluepig, you cannot compare video games to other types of games and say they're the say. Video games have a similarity to common art that the others don't, they are comprised of digital art. Have you not seen concept drawings of video games characters? Are those drawings to be considered art, yet not the games?

Video Games are art no matter how you put it, its generated on a computer, and it takes alot of work and trial and error to get the game just right just like a painter
