    Are Guns Okay?

I'm from England and I must admit I am apprehensive when I travel to countries where firearms are permitted. Knowing someone has weapon with the potential to kill just put's you a little on the edge as no one can tell anyones mind set. Even some of the nicest people have bad intentions..

Carrying a gun is dangerous. I don't care if you're the most careful person on the planet, when there is a gun, there is a chance of uncertainty regarding safety.

You ought to think that about every swinging dick with a hammer, a piece of lumber or various other blunt or sharp objects.

A person with ill will is going to do bad things, regardless of the weapons available to them. Dont drink the cool aid, guns dont cause violence. People do.

Thats bullshit. Im not sure what liberals think guns do on their off time but its certainly not load themselves, cock themselves and kill people.

A responsible gun owner CHECKS a firearm each time it is handled to see if it is loaded. A responsible gun owner does NOT leave loaded firearms unattended.

If there is a "chance of uncertainty" as you vaguely put it, nip it in the bud. Check see if its loaded. Even if it were its not going to go off on its own.

Not carrying a gun is dangerous. What if someone tries to stab you?

    What is the situation?

I never said to make it illegal to carry guns around, but it's dangerous nonetheless. What if someone takes the gun from you and uses it to injure others?

What are the odds of someone stabbing you in public? Get what I mean? It's more sensible to have it in your home.

Like Nod said if you were a Responsible Gun owner, you wouldn't allow someone to take or steal your gun...there is no use in arguing over this really its always going to be a pointless discussion..

Then why did you just comment? Being responsible only lowers the risk, it does not eliminate it.

I'll give you a scenario. Say the gun owner goes outside with his gun inside the seal attatched to his waist under his shirt. No one should know he has a gun right? Well there is an imprint of the gun which makes it visible. Anyone can knock him out from the back, take the gun out his holder and pull the trigger. This is a very reasonable scenario that most likely happened many times.

Are you still responsible then? Don't excuse the matter of guns being dangerous in public.

About as high as the chance of a well trained gun owner accidentally hurting someone with their gun.

I am a supporter on guns.
Where I live their doing background checks in order to be able to purchase a firearm, I'm sure they do this nation wide to. I think if you have been charged with any assaults with a deadly weapon or anything like that you shouldn't be able to purchase a firearm. But criminals are criminals and they don't follow the law. So just because there's a law for firearms doesn't mean the people shooting up school's or shooting anybody are going to follow the law obviously. And if guns were to become illegal there's always going to be a way to buy guns, People have been buying and selling guns illegally for years. I think fully automatic firearms should be legal but really strict on them. If you have been committed with any felony's I believe you shouldn't be able to purchase a fully automatic weapon. But like I said, There will always be a way to buy weapons, whether it be illegal or a legal.

I live in England and own a few shotguns.

We've got to have a licence, and keep them locked in a gun cabinet at all times they're not being used... I only use them for Clay Pigeon Shooting, mind.

Wrong, there is a negative correlation between guns and crime. Gun related crime might go up but everything else goes down, cause everyone will know they might get shot if they try something funny. Try something funny ---> get shot & gun related crime goes up ---> people will be scared to do the activity again that resulted in the 1st guy being shot & crime rates go down---> activist be like "guns cause crime" ---> I be like "Fuck logic"

Uncertainty regarding safety is not a valid reason for banning an inanimate object. For example: you exponentially increase your chances of dieing while operating a motor vehicle. The US government heavily regulates vehicles through the DMV and Law Enforcement, however this does not stop an irresponsible drunk driver from killing someone in a collision or even an accidental collision.

This is a crazy statistic, but the odds of being assaulted by a firearm is less than the odds of self harm (suicide). You're more likely to be killed while walking than by firearm discharge. You're basing your argument off emotions, you want to feel safe.

    My opinion on guns:

My government can't even keep "illegal" drugs out of prison. Good luck keeping "illegal" guns out of the hands of criminals.

Honestly it isn't the guns we should be worried about. It's the people who are carrying the guns and using them. We as people have the right to defend ourselves and no matter what gun laws there are in place. They will still be traded illegally. So we may as well be able to arm ourselves in case we ever need them for self defense.

    Are Guns Okay?

Living in Texas, I see lots of firearms. I own a gun and keep it in a secure place in my house in case of a breakin or something alike. I do not ever carry a gun when I go out but I don't disagree with people who do. If criminals can get a gun illegally you should be able to buy one legally to protect yourself. Obviously running from someone with a gun isn't an option and I doubt a knife will help much.

There is also the aspect of hunting.
