[APPROVED] RS3 Item Exchange Rule Update

Currently, the rule in RuneScape 3 Item Exchange states that anyone with a thread in that section must have valid pictures of what they are selling or their threads will be locked, found here: You need VALID pictures, under ANY circumstances! Read here before posting a thread!

There are many threads in that section from gold merchants selling items such as Partyhats. Currently, NO THREADS that are selling these have pictures/evidence that they have them in-game, as required in the rules - hence ALL of the selling threads are breaking the rule pinned to the channel.

The section is full of many trustworthy gold merchants who clearly would not have the PartyHat's at the time, but will purchase them if they get any orders from there. This in my eyes is fine.

The rule should be updated to tailor to this, but there are a few options below, as currently it makes no sense to have that rule if many people aren't following it:

    A) Lock over half the threads in that section as they don't currently follow the rules pinned to that section.

    B) Update the rule where people can also post evidence of their in-game wealth if it is sufficient enough to purchase any of the items they claim to sell, instead of pictures the actual item.

    C) Remove the rule of having valid pictures of the items in-game completely.

    D) Something else, feel free to. suggest.

    ==================

The vast majority of people agree that the rule should completely be removed, as people can just show the items in-game before any trades happen, and if there are any concerns about trust, people can simply utilise an MM/OMM to process any trades.

I think changing the rules for the section to not require proofs is fine, seeing as nobody is really following it anyway.
Not to mention that such screenshots are easy to fake as well so I don't see much of a point in requiring them.

If this change occurred the sticky could simply be updated to recommend that people seek in-game verification, with staff still being able to request in-game verification on a case-by-case basis as is in the rules now.

    Support.

Support, can guarantee that none of the advertisers have any Partyhats in stock. We buy them when we get an order, there's no point in holding and risking an entire partyhat set on mules. I'd say either remove the rule completely or change it to proof of being able to afford the items.

Support, they are easy to obtain and less likely to be held for extended periods of time. Plus you don’t need to provide updated proof that you have them on hand. Makes more sense to not require it at all or get rid of most of the threads that say they’re selling them

I would like to suggest the following:

I understand some people in that section use images however, it's become a common occurrence now in which users are now using vouches to justify their ownership. The majority of the people in that RS3 section who are ACTIVELY selling partyhats are users who've already sold multiple partyhats as shown in that section.

I think that instead of images being used, people should be allowed to quote vouches, after all, if someone has sold say 2 blue partyhats, then the likelihood that they will be able to get a partyhat when they get a sale is extremely high considering they've already done it before.

Additionally, I think the verification rule in-game should also be removed or revised. Reasoning behind this is, if people are buying partyhats when they get orders and proof is requested, it may take them some time for them to buy the partyhat at the price they're looking for, therefore there should be at least a 24 hour timeframe at the very least for them to prove they have the partyhat.

Lastly, I would suggest not only to lock the inactive threads, however put them to archive as well. There's well over 410 pages of people dealing with the RS3 item exchange and I'm fairly sure that 99% of the threads in that section are people who aren't dealing with RS3 items anymore. I feel there's no need for all those threads being there if 99% of them aren't being used, if a user wants their thread unarchived, then they can simply PM a staff member to move it back for them.

I support this suggestion and I've provided some feedback in my above points, I look forward to your opinions on this.

I think we just have too many rules in general, and this is one that we should get rid of - support. As is, there's nothing preventing you from asking a friend to take the photo for you, so I don't see how the rule is actually provably useful.

I support getting rid of this rule. The item can be shown in game before the trade is made anyway, there's no reason to require a picture.
