[Approved]Bad pms result in TWC

I am not sure if this is a rule already if it isn't it has sure been brought up a lot lately. I think bad pms should be a warning and than a TWC. It's a simply suggestion so for now I am not going to go into to much detail about it. If this is a rule already than go ahead and just ignore the suggest but I couldn't find anything about it.

I know that it happens just wasn't sure if it was an official rule or not. I looked but I didn't see anything. Doesn't mean that I couldn't have missed it though.

If a bad PM leads to the victim being scammed (usually impostor scammed by someone) then you receive a TWC. If the bad PM doesn't lead to a scam, you receive a stern warning (in the hopes you fix up before someone is scammed by your poor PM).

This is how we currently deal with bad PMs. I don't believe it's written in the rules here: The Official Sythe.org Rules but it's how we've always dealt with these situations.

If your suggestion is to add it to the above rules then sure, I'm all for clarity

 

Then I believe we should add it to the rules personally. Also possibly to make it the TWC happens before someone gets scammed. The point would be if someone can't figure out how to send a proper PM then they're putting people at risk which could lead to a scam. So maybe the current rule may need to be stricter but that's just my opinion if that makes sense. I'd like to see it stopped before the scam happens.

 

I can understand where you're coming from, but I personally think it's a little harsh. Being brought into the RAS/RAV sections for a poor PM is usually enough in itself for people to fix up, as well as a warning from Staff. I think a TWC when no scam has occurred seems harsh. If this was a major issue where warnings from staff weren't being taken seriously and/or users were still sending out incorrect PMs despite these warnings, I think I'd change my stance.

I think the better approach is to educate people on how to send a correct PM rather than punish and I usually link this example in those reports:

If that's how everyone feels it should be done than I am on board with it. I do think 100% regardless it should be added to the official rule list as it seems that it isn't there already.

 

what do you think of when someone requests a pm with uid info etc and fails to do so, ie the injury report here? though no scam occurrsed as a direct result of the poor pm, it feels like extreme negligence to me that will eventually end in a valid report.

 

I agree with the sentiment, I hate that just because no one gets scammed means that they don't get a TWC.
If you're involved in the market, and you're doing business, you have 5-10 minutes to spare to read the stickies and see what a proper PM looks like.
You also should care about your customers safety, and it feels like these people who aren't doing this don't care and something will happen down the line.

 

This should have been implemented in the rules a long time ago, imposters have been a huge pain in the butt ever since I joined ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO.

Proper PM should ATLEAST include both discord id's/unique id's + Explain the transaction + a screenshot of the chat.


As for the punishment for failing to do so, a warning on the first failed PM and a 1 month TWC for the 2nd failed attempt?

I think it is fine to be harsh when it comes to rules, for the safety of other members at least. If you give someone a warning then they do it again you feel like a twc just should have been there anyways. I don't really think it is hard to take 20 seconds to copy the layout, copy your and their discord info, and then send it to the person. A lot of imposter scams have been happening, so it would probably just be best to add it into the rules hard set and possibly make it a twc first offense regardless of scam or not.

I think currently you only get a TWC if a scam occurs which I think is ridiculous, it should be TWC worthy regardless.

 

Yeah. The only people who would know to report for a bad PM are the same people that wouldn't be scammed by them. So it's just backwards lol.
