[APPROVED] Archive middleman applications from banned users/dnt/inactive users

This is simple. Reasoning for each below. If threads are archived and need to be reopened in the future its as simple as the user reporting and asking a moderator to unarchive it



Banned users - Sythe has already stated that having banned profile's all over the website looks bad. why would we keep these here?

DNT - Self explaining, it looks bad for the website when users who are not allowed to trade are allowed to have active threads pursuing trading ranks.

Inactive threads - If a user has not been actively on sythe for lets say 3 months or more what chance do they have of completing their application let alone being accepted as an OMM.

 

Support, already suggested this an enternity ago to Shin but he somehow wanted to keep it at that time so they "could continue where they left of" if they ever wanted to, but imo if they've been banned/DNT'ed or inactive their previous proofs should become insufficient and they'd have to re-do it all. But then again, who am I to say, I got denied as an OMM.

 

That's weird because it takes seconds to unarchive an old thread.

Reapply! We need active OMM's and you'd be a great fit for the team.
After you were denied you should have got a PM saying what the upperstaff (lmao) saying you should work on for your application.



Took me 4 applications for OMM

 

Impossible due to the events happening IRL for me which resulted in me to quit all trading activities, but yeah, that's another discussion.

But yes, unarchiving thread isn't that hard, though I'm not for that either, even though it could be a possibility yes.

 

Shins been wildy inactive. Can another admin/global step in and get this fixed for the reasons above?

Support, I don’t think banned users should leave off where they left off - at least, in this case.

 

I am not an OMM so I will refrain from making the final decision, however I can support the suggestion as an Admin. Have you tried to see what the OMMs thought?

OT: Just to archive - sure, why not? But if we are talking about having people's applications invalidated: If people have to pardon, they should have to restart their application. Clean slate, right? Then wipe everything - even the good. I'm OK with that.

This just makes sense to me. If I was a new user I’d be pretty confused as to why there are OMM apps visible for banned and DNT users.

If you got banned or DNT’d you must have seriously messed up somewhere, and you should have to submit a new OMM app if you get pardoned.

Lastly, as tyler points out, an inactive with an OMM app probably won’t ever become an OMM. Just my opinion. Definitely support this suggestion.

 

No support. Not because I disagree with this, but because I advocate for consistency across the rules.

I have suggested many times removing vouches from banned users (archiving their thread), so that they cannot come back to the site as a "trusted" user (aka someone with 1000+ vouches). Many times this suggestion has been declined.

If we are not willing to wipe normal vouches, I dont see why a MM app is any different, in effect... its just listing vouches from MMs. I would presume that their ban would come up in the voting process, rather it not be reflected on restarting the application unless this policy is consistent across site - removing the vouches all together by archiving their vouch thread.

Also that being said, I highly doubt whether bans are taken into consideration in the MM voting process (just my guess by the average activity of the OMMs). Perhaps add a part of the application that asks "have you been banned before" to address this issue - the user will obviously update this on being banned and pardoning if they wish to continue their app.

 

Oops not sure if I put my message out here wrong. I am not asking to have peoples applications invalidated, I am just asking to have people who (see OP) thread's archived, until they have served their ban or DNT, or are active again. Then there's no reason their thread cant be brought back.

 

OMM applicaitons are denied if applicant is banned so archiving banned users applications is fine.

 

I created a new archive forum and placed applications that haven't been posted on this year there: MiddleMan Applications Archive

If there was an application present for 2018 and the user was banned or DNT, it was archived as well.

It might help if you message or tag me on Discord. I have been busy, but I've been very up-front about my activity as well.
