[Approved] Add a new warning that Jagex Launcher is not 100% safe

Using this scam report as an example. Stickys should be updated to reference the new launcher is NOT 100% safe as jagex advertises and that accounts are recoverable even after being added to the launcher.

I dont see a problem adding this to one of the warning threads that we already have.

 

Support, I've seen some people say it's impossible to recover and I have told them otherwise. Therefore it is a good idea to add it to the section sticky to warn users.

If you've seen twitter drama and how Jagex respond to these queries you'll see they won't give back accounts unless its very clear its hijacked and put on the account.

If you're buying from a reputable vendor and the account inactivity is long even if they're not the original owner should you use the first owners name on billing, its going to be difficult for Jagex to deem it hijacked, especially after a long time. If you were familiar with the ordinary way of appealing non-jagex accounts you'd be aware that it it can be extremely difficult to get even your own account back (even if you're the original owner and know the billing info etc) because they excuse it as account security.

I'd always say to use the oo name on billing, and be wary just like you would normally. It's still a great practice and account security is way better now for RWT. It's largely a security system they added because they wanted to stop people complaining on reddit/twitter about the account recovery system.

So if you add it, you should also advise using the OO real name on billing.

As one of the people that thought this made them close to 100% safe now - I absolutely support this. I was under the impression that it did make them unrecoverable, so I'm sure there are plenty of others out there.

 

Nothing is 100% with Gagex, even if they say so, it can be undone or done by them at some point, if they feel like in that case. Corrupt.

I'll say it again like I have said a million times before, accounts can always be recovered at some extent or another. Do your due diligence and remember you're buying an online account on an online forum, for an ONLINE game of which many people love to steal from each other.
