    So, I'll be honest.. I'm not the biggest cardio guy. In fact I HATE it.

    I just find it boring to be frank. Especially on a treadmill.


    So, to describe myself I'm about 175 pounds. I weight-lift pretty much daily except for the weekends. That's where it gets difficult because being as heavy I am I'd like to shed the fat down a bit with cardio to get a bit more cut and lean looking.

    So I was wondering if anyone had advice one basically getting started with running 3+ miles distance? For time or just endurance / better cardio.

    Truthfully, I hate running as well, instead of running on a treadmill, try doing lifting exercises to get your endurance up before jumping into runs. Examples; Flipping tires, sled pushes, sledgehammer swings, rowing machine etc. There are a ton more, and if you are gonna run, run outdoors. It won't seem as boring at all.

    I say never aim to go for distance, always aim for fast short interval sessions for BF loss.
    As ryder said above go for endurance exercises, Do sprints - stop starts 100% max effort, and if you are doing cardio for longer than 30 minutes you are doing something wrong, if you are going at a good intensity it should be a short snappy session.. where you feel like you physically cannot do anymore cardio.

    Good one to try is hill sprints get a hill you can sprint for 2 minute up it with a constant incline.

    start at 15 secs intervals with 1 minute 45 secs rest going up in 15 seconds intervals and down 15 seconds rest, till you have no rest included - Always sprint at 100% effort.

    Also Remember your daily calorie intake will have a massive input on losing bf, and dont under-eat either you have to have a certain amount of calories to maintain a good weight loss system too otherwise youll just pile it back on.

    Cardio is all about your mindset; when you think you have to slow down or start walking that’s when you pick it up a notch and continue running!

    I would suggest running around the block to get started, running outdoors is also much more challenging than running on a treadmill!

    Thanks guys,

    So normally I weight-lift every morning along with various CrossFit exercises like Ryder mentioned. I’ll incorporate the sprints here and there throughout the week in between lifts.

    I bought a weight vest as well to try and incorporate that into some workouts / the running.

    The goal is to increase endurance, stay off the treadmill, and get the mindset lol.

    With the weight vests I would be careful as to not injure your knees, just be mindful I would say...

    Uhh you could just eat less and lose weight without doing any cardio?

    If you want to go with the cardio route then do stuff that you find more enjoyable such as hill sprints, horizontal sprints, jogging, jump rope, high reps on exercises like squats - many options to choose from.

    hate doing cardio, but last year I started doing it and my training on gym got better overall, it took longer for me get tired specially on exercises like deadlift and squats
